Guest guest
It was with considerable relief that the 12/14 membership meeting ended with plans to meet in task force to resolve remaining issues over Vern's full return to Salem to represent our best interests. Clearly, the message had been delivered to the eclipsing Board that Vern's support was broad and passionate in the field. The Board chair relied heavily on the legal advice of Tonkin & Torp, defensively trying to keep it's agenda for the meeting in hand. T & T clearly represented the immediate interests of the interim Board, creating further defensiveness in the vocal membership. The involvement of T & T in OCA affairs remains an uneasy aspect, unresolved IMO, particularly as I see them taking such an active role in the negotiations over Vern full return. Did the interim Board contract with them because Gatti & Gatti clearly see that they can't and won't represent the Board against the membership? What other motive would lead the interim Board to T & T when there is a clear conflict-of-interest with their PT clients? Something is still unknown in this struggle. I sense confidence in working it out with Vern, but too much is still dark about the involvement of T & T at this point for confidence in full resolution.
