Guest guest
Great advice, but I have one question, did you fall and hit your head today? I look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. Let's make sure it remains civil, that we ALL remain respectful of others even if they hold a contrary opinion and/or position to ours. Make sure you contact other members for places to stay so you don't have to drive all the way back home after the meeting. I live in Albany, if someone is traveling from Southern Oregon and would like to stop in Albany for a place to stay, I will be happy to lend them a room. I have one queen in the guest room, and my grandson's room has a single bed. I would also be happy to buy you breakfast at my restaurant in Albany prior to you heading on home. As most of you know, I supported Dudley for Governor, but as grownups can and do, even if we disagree with someone, we can still be civil and get along. I now fully support Dr. Kitzhaber, he won fair and square and if we are to continue with our legislative agenda, we have to project one, single, unified voice. Vern has a tremendous relationship with the Governor-elect, and this relationship as OCA Lobbyist absolutely has to continue. To end it would not only shoot us in the foot, quite possibly in the temple. His relationship could only be forged by communicating on the same level, with experience, education, and passion for the future of Oregon's citizens as that of Dr. Kitzhaber. No one, and I am serious about that statement, could forge this type of relationship without having Dr. Saboe's passion and practice experience. A normal person, and calling Vern normal is a stretch, wouldn't be able to discuss our issues with the intellect that he possesses, without someone calling their BS. Not to say Vern isn't full of that at times. As was stated to me at the November meeting, certain members of the board felt what we were doing would split this association up. I whole heartily disagree. I maintain the direction that the board was going with it's new, lay lobbyist would have caused much more discontent if it was allowed to proceed. The actions of us members at the November meeting were not something that was developed overnight. Many of us had voiced concerns for the last 8-10 months. When we saw the direction our association was going,, we had no other option but to try to redirect our board. To be absolutely clear, they are OUR board, as stakeholders of the association we have rights to be heard and give direction as we see necessary. Just let me know if anyone needs a room.
