Guest guest
No , ultrasounds don't always show the true condition of the liver . O and this is the whole puprpose of the room . To provide support and answer questions . sorry! I'm sorry I am asking so many questions and having a hard time with this but I can't talk to anyone else about it. I can't talk about it in front of the kids and my husband tells me not to worry but I of course do. I did have an ultrasound and it showed normal. does that mean I don't have liver damage? when does cirrosis?(spelling) show up?
Guest guest
hon, dont ever think you are asking too many questions, that is what we are here for!! How old are you children? NOT talking about it in front of them helps to keep the stigma going hon,.. depending upon your childrens ages,, they need to know that you have it and not to ever use your nail clippers, tooth brush, razor etc,, maybe they are too young yet , but one day you must tell them so that they can help protect themselves from infection too.. No, an ultra sound is NOT going to show most damage, it will only show gross lesions or large tumors, you need an MRI or a biopsy to show the real damage which may be microscopic. raggzcutie@... wrote: I'm sorry I am asking so many questions and having a hard time with this but I can't talk to anyone else about it. Guest guest
ps, cirrhosis usually shows up around 20 years of infection,, but I know many many ppl who have had this virus for 30 years and MORE who have NO damage,, and I know others who have had it much shorter times who have much cirrhosis,, but those who have cirrhosis have continued to consume Alcohol..raggzcutie@... wrote: I'm sorry I am asking so many questions and having a hard time with this but I can't talk to anyone else about it. Guest guest
The first thing I did was share with my husband and kids. Including my then 2 year old granddaughter. The reason for talking to my granddaughter? Because she liked to fix boo-boo's. I wanted her to know that grandma needed to fix her own boo boo's. I taught my family how to use universal precautions. Glove up every time there is blood, fluid etc. Now you will find gloves under neath the kitchen sink, bathroom sinks. In the car,and in my husbands tool box. I felt I need to educate my family and my friends. Love Janetraggzcutie@... wrote: I'm sorry I am asking so many questions and having a hard time with this but I can't talk to anyone else about it. Guest guest
Right on Janet!!! Once when I was taking care of my granddaughter, she was about 18 months old and I was going to lay down and take a nap with her,, I laid her on the bed and when I went to lay down, just as I went to sit, she rolled to the spot I was going to sit on, so I tried to miss her and in fact fell on the floor and my head hit the wall plug breaking the plug and putting a deep gash in my head. It was after I got my diagnosis but before treatment... heard me fall and came running and by that time Haleigh was trying to get off the bed to help grammie,, I had roger immediately pick haleigh up and go to the bathroom and get me 2 big towels, I told him NOT to touch me and let ME get the bleeding under control,, it was gushing by that time... So,, I got my bleeding stopped, and he put Haleigh in the car in her carseat while I walked to the car and we went to get my head fixed... At the hosp, my nurse friend Ruth was going to be my nurse,, I told her that I would understand if she wanted to pass on cleaning up my head wound for sutures,, she refused to NOT treat me,, and when I told her to double glove up,, she also refused to do that as well.. She did put trauma gloves on and instead of sutures, I ended up with 10 staples in my scalp..lol.. but the point is,, NO one was exposed to my blood, I took care of it myself and my husband was trained many many years ago as an EMT so if I had knocked myself out, he would have made sure not to touch my head until he had gloves on,, and I had many boxes of gloves around the house.. but my grand daughters mom would NEVER have stopped allowing me to take care of my grand daughter,, and it would have been almost the end of my world if she had,, but she was EDUCATED and KNEW that I would NEVER put Haleigh in any risk nor would I put ANY child at risk of infection... its EDUCATION that counts,, IGNORANCE causes problems,, Janet <doc_jade@...> wrote: The first thing I did was share with my husband and kids. Guest guest
I don't know how these things happen but I was spoofed.
