Guest guest
Listees, Below you will see a message I saw on the listserve recently that just tweaked my "red flag" button. So I did a little checking. A DC can indeed become a medicare DME supplier but only as a SUPPLIER, not as a DC. ANYONE can become a supplier. For reimbursement the DME item must be a covered item, there must be medical necessity, AND (and this is a bigee) it must be ORDERED by an approved provider (translate: MD, DO, etc., NOT a DC). Then, if approved, you can bill for DME but as a SUPPLIER, NOT as a DC. If you too have seen this message I felt a little clarification was in order. J.
