Guest guest
Hello Fellow Chiropractic Physicians: I was SHOCKED to learn that Dr. Vern Saboe has been terminated as our lobbyist. Vern has done so much for us, and achieved so much on the behalf of the chiropractic profession. He has personally helped chiropractic in such a positive way lobbying for us at the state capitol over the past many years and has actually helped pass pro-chiropractic bills. To terminate Dr. Saboe's position as our lobbyist is a BIG MISTAKE!!! Dr. Saboe has a proven track record being our lobbyist. He is well known at the capitol. I as a member of the association request that Dr. Vern Saboe be immediately re-hired as our lobbyist. If there is anyone out there that does agree with me, please write letters to the association board, or post your message on this website. Thank you all. Guest guest
I agree, Dr.Feinberg and Dr. Bhasin. What is the membership going to do now? Why didn't we have more say in who is hired or fired as our lobbyist? Brad Rethwill DC Eugene > > Dear Oregon DCs, > > > > Is there anyone on this forum who agrees with this action??? Guest guest
Doctors. This may be long, but please read it all. You may call Vern at 541- 231-4528, if you would like to discuss anything I have posted here. He has agreed to take your calls by my request. You will find below the letter that Vern received from the OCA. This action was in retaliation for the motionw the members of your profession took at the November 18, 2010, general membership meeting. There was about 80 doctors from all over the state in attendance at the UWS Hampton hall, where we had concerns about the direction the current board has been taking the OCA. The original by laws that were put together when ODOC and the CAO joined stated that an interim board would be in place for a period of 2 years, ending on December 31, 2010. Unfortunately, the current board as expressed by one of the board members in attendance, decided, on their own, to make sure a number of the them would continue on past this date. They even formed their own nominating committee, again against the By Laws. The OCA By Laws state the nominating committee is to be elected at a general membership meeting, by those present, which is what took place at the December 18, 2010, meeting. The members present also instructed by motion, the board to take no action on any of the contracts for our current lobbyists. As you can see they completely have ignored the wishes of the membership and are now calling for an " Emergency General Membership Meeting " to take place on December 14, 2010, but have not notified the general membership, as far as I can tell. I have no idea of the place the meeting will be heald at or at what time. Neither the OCA list, or their home page has any notification of this. It is apparent that the current board is hell bent on maintaining control of the OCA and has very little interest in what the general membership has to say. At the end of November's membership meeting, I was approached by two current board members with what I took as a thinly vieled threat that if we continued in this manner, we would be personally responsible for breaking the OCA apart. Since the November meeting, the board has been furiously seeking legal council, as you can see, the OCA had to go outside of its current legal representative to get someone to nullify Vern's contract, and I hear also to nullify all of the motions the members in attendance made on November 18. This is a shame, and if anyone is trying to break up the OCA, I say it is the current board members. Below is the letter Vern received by fax, and email. You would have thought that with all he has done for us over the last 10 years, many of them without pay, they would have at least called and met with him in person. Since I couldn't get the original letter to copy, I have copied it verbatum for all to read. Make sure you are all there on December 14, 2010. I would make sure everyone calls the OCA and asks the time and place of this meeting so they don't try to stuff the meeting with those that will go against the majority. If there has ever been a meeting that requires our full attendance, this is it.
