Hi Sunny: Thanks. He does cover no dairy, eggs, meat, basically no saturated animal fats. He references major studies showing the links between saturated animal fats and disease.AlanFrom: skrndc1@...To: alansmithdc@...; Subject: RE: active prostate cancer [1 Attachment]Date: Fri, 3 Dec 2010 12:37:31 -0800

Remember to take him off of dairy ..... see www.notmilk.com for the DIRECT connection between the IGF-1 protein of the cow and the developmentof prostate cancer .... not to mention the acceleration of the cancer if he continues to consume that protein.

Hi listmates,

I have a 72 yr old male with active prostate cancer. He had radiation therapy last yr which helped but his PSA is increasing. Oncologist is considering chemo. Pt is not a surgical candidate due to triple bypass.

Any suggestions? I am thinking about referring him to a naturopath.

HI Dr. Seitz: Carbs means a combination carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Dietary carbs can range from white sugar, high fructose corn syrup too the carbs found in whole grains, beans and legumes. The attachment regarding the study doesn't specify which carbs were fed the rats. There would be different clinical outcomes if rats were given sugar water verses complex foods.Alan D.C. You may want to consider his blood type. People who are blood type O need to keep even complex carbs lower than do the other blood types. Too much grains, even organic whole grains are often inflammatory for blood type O. I've seen many, many sick vegetarians, who basically needed meat / more animal protein and less grains and beans. Balance, balance, balance! We're all different and have different dietary needs within guidelines of healthy food. Obviously, nOne of us do well with high fructose corn syrup, white sugar, etc. Also, what about pelvic floor muscles? Are his organs prolapsed? Has he had acupuncture?

What you say is true. Also true is that epidemiological studies do not identify causation. Also true is that animal models are poor surrogates for humans. Also true is that the chow and oils fed to lab animals is not "real" food. With regards to cancer we are dealing with a body that is sick, out of harmony with nature. What leads to this is often eating and living in a manner that is incongruent with our genotyype. We should eat real food, which for us includes meat. We are not "designed" for grain eating. In nature oils are in short supply in the plant kingdom. We get our oils from animals. The key is to eat meat that comes from healthy animals raised in a manner congruent with their genotype, not raised in a pen or locked in a shed. With regards to the article I originally posted, it contends that insulin resistance is at the root. What leads to insulin resistance? Chronic carb overload. All carbs break down to glucose, which drives insulin. Overconsumption is the key. Eating in moderation will blunt the effect, but in the absence of sufficient protein and quality fat you will need to eat much more frequently. For another argument from "the other side" consider this: http://ramblingsofacarnivore.blogspot.com/2010/11/come-on-guys-youre-smarter-than-this.htmlI am in mourning for my Beavs, but for once, and only this time, go....Ducks?
