Guest guest
Docs: The current issue of The Chiropractic Journal has an interesting post about a recent health survey of 1,000 Millennials (people ages 15 to 27). Looks like the future of health in America is bright.....NOT! Lyndon McGill, D.C. Salem, Oregon www.SalemSpineClinic.com Evolving Doctors Groundbreaking survey of Millennial attitudes to health: Findings drawn from a national telephone and online health survey of 1,000 Millennials (individuals now ages 15 to 27) on wellness, medication, chiropractic, and health care reform commissioned by Life University, "Millennial Myopia: What Young Americans Don’t Know About Healthcare" has compelling implications for chiropractic. Our survey found Millennials are overly optimistic about their own health, despite admitting to the same unhealthy habits that have caused chronic illness in previous generations. More than half (58%) eat junk food several times a week, 50% drink soda regularly, 50% do not get enough sleep, 44% do not exercise on a regular basis, 17% smoke cigarettes frequently, 13% have unhealthy relationships, and 6% drink too much alcohol several times a week. On the plus side, more than 40% report their parents use chiropractic care [probably as a last resort when everything else fails, in my opinion]. Our groundbreaking survey provides helpful data to chiropractors charged with engaging this generation in healthy habits and wellness care.
