Be among the first in the US to learn this exciting new approach! The Only FM Courses leading to a Diploma/Certification by the Fascial Manipulation Association in ItalyPress ReleaseFor Immediate ReleaseMyopain Seminars AnnouncesAn Exciting New Course Series in Fascial Manipulation©Bethesda, MD, December 2010 - Myopain Seminars is proud to announce the launch of a unique new course program in Fascial Manipulation©. Coming from Italy, the courses will initially be offered in Atlanta, GA and Eugene, OR. Fasci<11.jpg>al Manipulation is a new manual therapy, developed by Italian physiotherapist Luigi Stecco. This method has evolved over the last 35 years through study and practice in the treatment of a vast caseload of musculoskeletal problems. Fascial Manipulation focuses on the assessment and treatment of the fascia, especially the deep muscular fascia. The Fascial Manipulation courses are unique evidenced-based seminars now for the first time available in the United States! In recent years, collaboration between the Anatomy departments of the Ren<10.jpg>é Descartes University of Paris and the University of Padova, has allowed Dr. Carla Stecco and Dr. Stecco (children of Luigi...) to carry out extensive research into the anatomy and histology of the fascia via dissection of unembalmed cadavers. These dissections have enhanced the biomechanical model providing new histological and anatomical data. The empirical work and scientific research form the basis of the Fascial Manipulation course series.About Fascial ManipulationThe mainstay of Fascial Manipulation lies in the identification of a specific, localized area of the fascia in connection with a specific limited movement. Once a limited or painful movement is identified, then a certain small area of the deep fascia is implicated and, through the appropriate manipulation of this precise part of the fascia, movem<12.jpg>ent can be restored. In Fascial Manipulation, the body is divided into 14 segments and each body segment is served by six myofascial units consisting of monoarticular and biarticular unidirectional muscle fibers, their deep fascia (including epimysium) and the articulation that they move in one direction on one plane. This biomechanical model, which is based on an understanding of fascial anatomy, offers an accurate analysis of myofascial connections that can assist physical therapists in choosing key areas for more effective treatment. The courses in Fascial Manipulation prepare physical therapists in the theory behind the technique, the correct analysis of functional movements and the correct localization and treatment of fascial restrictions. This course series consists of two levels: FM-1: Level 1 Fascial Manipulation and FM-2: Level 2 Fascial Manipulation. Each level is divided into two parts, FM-1a and FM-1b, FM-2a and FM-2b. Successful completion of FM Level 1 is required before being able to attend the FM Level 2 course. Completion of the FM Level 1 does provide clinical proficiency for a wide range of common dysfunctions. At the end of the second Level physical therapists will be able to treat patients with complex movement disorders. Participants have to register for both Level 1a and 1b.Course dates for the Level 1 Fascial Manipulation courses in March-May are:Level 1-a Fascial Manipulation: Basic PrinciplesEugene, OR: Mar 25 - 27, 2011 Atlanta, GA: Apr 1 - 3, 2011 Level 1-b Fascial Manipulation: Physiology, Assessment and TreatmentAtlanta, GA Apr 29 - May 1, 2011 Eugene, OR May 6 - 8, 2011 Course dates for the Level 2 Fascial Manipulation courses in September-October are:Level 2-a Fascial ManipulationAtlanta, GA: 9 -11 September 2011Eugene, OR: 14 -16 September 2011 Level 2-b Fascial Manipulation Atlanta, GA: 7 -9 October 2011 Eugene, OR: 14 -16 October 2011Registration for these courses will commence in January 2011. If you live in Oregon Dr.Hammer's course is not really cheaper considering flights, hotel and travel travel time for two weekends. Gambling and uninhibited Las Vegas nightlife could bring the price way up. Gregtory Kahn DC Eugene
