I was sitting in my sophomore (high school) geometry class with Mr. Webster when the news came on over the intercom. Catholic school, so we were all sent home early. One of the life-changing moments in my life.

Kennedy Assassination- where were you 47 years ago today?

I remember we were sitting in our second grade classroom and a little after lunch ( Friday, November 22, 1963; 12:30 p.m. Central Standard Time) the principal turned on the radio over the intercom. We were vaguely aware that the president had been shot.They sent us home early.The news coverage was round the clock but there were very few real details revealed. They went over and over the cop chasing Oswald to a theater, etc.I remember my mom screaming from the living room that they shot him! Interestingly enough I was in American History class and expected the next announcement to be that the Russians had started bombing Washington DC! I was sitting in my freshman HS Latin class at Central Catholic  here in Portland when the news came over the school speaker system.  We did not go home as classes continued-iron discipline ruled the day.  Kennedy was one of my first real life heroes.
