My Dear Abby,

Fibrofog, as its called is very much associated with Fibromyalgia, and there is also memory loss with SLE... I have notes around everywhere, then I have to remember to look at the notes! :o) There is no cure for either one at this time to my knowledge... I can read a story out of a magazine and unless it makes a big impression I can reread the same story in a week and not recall it... Sometimes I can be reading a story and think to myself that I've heard parts of this somewhere before... I can still remember the old things that have made an impact in my life my short term memory is terrible... They have checked me for Alzheimer's, but thankfully they say that I do not have that... The test they gave me was recent questions on the day to day things, he said i didn't even get the right president nor vice president right... the two weren't even in office together when they were in office... :o) But I Don't have Alzheimer's!!! :o)

Keep talking, the answers are there somewhere, there are always new discoveries in the medical field...

I was just curious if anyone here that has lupus or fibromyalgia has had trouble with their memory since their diagnosis? My mom has lupus and a lady I work with has fibromyalgia. Both illnesses have very similiar symptoms, so I sort of talk to his lady about what my mom goes through and she has the same thing happening with her. Both of them didn't have any trouble before, but now even something very simple is hard to do. Like now, they have to write down everything because they will forget it or simple tasks at work that they have done repeatedly for years now even become difficult sometimes. Its very strange how this happens and I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. Even like reading a book is hard because the both say its so hard to concentrate or they will have to go back and reread something because they can't remember what they read or it just don't make sense so you have to go back through it. I'm trying to find out more info about it and does anyone know what might be causing or if there is anything they can do to try to fix it? Abby

Hi Abby,

I Hear so much Love in your heart for your Mom... You need to accept the fact that you can not change what is happening to your Mom and friend and stop blaming yourself for their ailments :o) The best thing you can do for your Mom and Friend you are already doing... Just being there for them and listening to them tell you their troubles and fears... So many families are broken up due to health problems in the family... You have both of your parents struggling and it sounds like they are doing a pretty good job coping with it...

Yes its a shame the way things happen to change what was normal to us, but we have no control over any of it and when we finally accept it that we are the way we are we will go on and become stronger! :o) (And it only took me over 40 years to figure it out!:o)

I understand what its like when people are dealing with this. Its so frustrating. My mom and this lady I work with , they both have the same trouble like I was telling about before. This was like heartbreaking for my mom especially because she loved to read and there are so many books she wants to read, but she just can't. That was what was sad because even just trying to do other stuff like even remembering certain stuff to get from the store. She has to write it down, or phone numbers-who called and who she has to call back. I feel so bad, even I see her struggle with it, I know there isn't anything I can do, but I just feel so terrible. Its the worst thing in the world to see someone go through that, and I can't even count the times my mom used to cry because she couldn't do something. I just don't understand why this happens, I mean, you aren't this way before, but all of a sudden your mind just gets messed up. I don't get it, but I wish there was a way you could fix it.

Thanks! I do love my parents a lot more than anything in the world. lol They are everything to me and I just do what I can to help them. My parents have dealt with this as best as they can and have done pretty well. A lot better than I could have. We've all learned a lot from this and I think we all are stronger from it. I have definitely noticed quite a change in myself from where I once was and actually through it all am happier now. A lot has changed and it took me a long time to realize that change has to happen. Whether its good or bad. I also just had to get help for myself first before I could try to help someone else. I try to be there as much as I can for others, especially my mom and my friend, I don't mind listening to them at all because I know its better for them to get it out than keep it all in. Plus, there aren't too many people they talk to that truly understand what they are going through, I don't know exactly what they are going through, but I do

understand. angelbear1129@... wrote: Hi Abby, I Hear so much Love in your heart for your Mom...
