HI All

You will all be aware of the coalition government announcement that they have asked Eileen Munro, a Professor of social policy, to take a look at child protection matters including an exploration of how serious case reviews are undertaken and the findings used to implement change. It is interesting to note that the focus is now on child protection rather than safeguarding but that early intervention is part of the brief and seen as really important.

If you Google the Department of Education and then click on the Munro review - you will find much useful information including a list of the review team (there is no one from health) but there are individuals who have experienced care and child protection procedures. I understand that if a lot of people respond initially from health then the review team may be looked at and health included as it is important to influence them

She is calling now for initial evidence until the end of July and will then review and follow up. Attached are a number of questions/areas that they are seeking response from and an email address to send to. There is a proforma on the web site to send in "good practice" initiatives and innovations with a note to say if you would be prepared to be followed up.

Apparently there will be an initial report later this year and a final one early next before changes are made.

You may like to respond or make contact with your named/designated nurses/doctors to look at how they are to respond as an organisation.

As I hear more will post more.

Margaret
