No disrespect but...by DD's theory, is continuing to stretch "already flexible" muscles just playing harp on the skeletal system? Really?

Maintaining muscle flexibility and J O I N T M O B I L I T Y thus P R E V E N T I N G subluxation from occurring in the first place is only playing piano?? Really?? Good thing I'm a musician as well as a chiropractor... :)))

Are you and DD really saying we should NEVER adjust a joint unit AFTER IT EXHIBITS A PROBLEM??? Really??? (Isn't that what's WRONG with the medical model? Not making patients responsible for MAINTAINING their health, but rather attempting to "fix" problems after "DISEASE" has already set in?). Dentists don't do this...(they work on perfectly healthy teeth BEFORE they develop problems, thus PREVENTING problems).

So, tell me in your practice (or maybe DD has already answered this) at which "phase" of subluxation do you determine its "exactly" (your words) right to adjust? Loss of motion? Nerve problems? Muscle problems? Inflammation? Degeneration? (Because each follows the other! Do you wait for stage 2 or stage 3? And, if you adjust an "already loose" joint, won't you PREVENT loss of motion in that joint? (because if you can PREVENT loss of motion, you can PREVENT the other phase of degeneration!!).

So, my question to DD would be...why wait? Why not prevent the subsequent stages of subluxation, by adjusting to PREVENT the FIRST STAGE of subluxation? I think that's a valid question, and I would like to know what other's think... (:-)

hurrah for HVLA

With all the bad press as of late and folks discounting the need for HVLA especially in the cervical spine, it was refreshing to encounter a case in which needed nothing but.

Long story short: 32 yo female whiplash. She was seeing an activator doctor for 8 visits, but the doc wasn't very intuned with the patient's pain and quietly lost the patients trust and confidence. Therefore the patient was very "protective" before any and every treatment.

After taking it very easy with this woman and explaining myself as I went, I was able to perform a manual seated cervical adjustment on her. The sound that came from that neck is the loudest i've heard this year. This woman, who is still coming in has had a 4 point drop in her pain level since that first visit and is amazed with what chiropractic can do.

Sometimes (most times not) the "crack" is needed. This woman had an ENORMOUS amount of pressure built up in multiple cervical joints causing pain that got worse over time and due to her being extremely protective, it was never allowed to release. It would have never released fully without an HVLA adjustment of the Cervical spine.

Just had to share a success story. So many people discuss how people don't like the Crack, but sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered!!

BTW, nothing against Activator Doctors here, but just as you believe we should all probably have an activator in our arsenal, I'd urge you not to put down HVLA for good either.
