Way to go Maggie! That is awesome!

Maggie's cheesy eDiets " Success Story "

I thought I'd share my extremely cheesy eDiets success story interview

even though (argh!) they are using old pics from right after my first

challenge instead of my more recent (leaner) " after " photos. I know,

I know--it's just vanity! ;)

http://www.ediets.com/news/successstories.cfm

I was interviewed this Monday regarding my experience with the Eating

for Life plan at eDiets. They definitely added in a heavy-handed sell

for the EFL plan in the final interview, but subtract all of the " she

did this all with eDiets and EFL " spin to it (technically I only used

a few of the more interesting recipes and participated in two Life's

Odyssey challenges), and you've got a pretty good picture of why I

started BFL last May and why I stuck with it instead of going through

the low-carb fads or some other program that didn't include weight

training. Hopefully that interview and any future banner ads that

come from the pics, goofy as they may be, will encourage other eDiets

members to choose EFL/BFL over some of the less healthy options.

You really look great. Overall I see a definite change and your face

looks very defined which emphasises your beautiful features. You

should enter the official bfl challenge? If so, do you think

appearing on on ediets will lesson or increase your chances? I'm not

sure what the policies are for winners. I do remember reading that

winners can not advertise or help promote other health or fitness

endeavors while being a bfl spokesperson? Come to think of it, ediets

just helped you to follow the bfl way of eating so that is totally

different.

Gosh! That's a good question... and it's not fair if she'd be disqualified,

especially if there was no compensation from ediets. AAMOF... I think she

should have gotten like a year free from ediets for agreeing to the

interview! JMHO...

I didn't plan on entering the official challenge this year. In some

ways, as I've continued with BFL (or my highly tweaked versions of

it), I've come to realize like hundreds of thousands of other people

that the challenge isn't the important thing. I don't need an external

motivator like a monetary prize or even a specific 12 week time frame

to keep me going now. It is enough that I have left behind the

inertia of my overweight, sedentary lifestyle and am once again

active, confident about what my body can DO, and continually striving

to improve and refine my physique and achieve my athletic performance

goals.

Somewhere along the way, I seem to have internalized my motivation and

changed it from something that needed constant fuel in the form of

rewards and feedback from the outside to a self-perpetuating drive to

keep on raising my own personal bar. I don't need to dream about

winning a million dollars to get me out of bed in the morning to lift

weights, finish my cardio run at a full 10 mph sprint, or keep me out

of the office candy jar. I do these things because they are a part of

my permanent lifestyle, and I was fortunate enough to have found BFL

while still single and responsible for only myself, so I will have a

strong foundation in healthy nutrition and fitness that no one can

take away from me.

Also, I've written enough harangues about how vile I find most EAS MRP

products that the only way I'd ever get chosen even if I made the

world's most phenomenal transformation is to acquire an alien memory

erasure beam that will wipe my " OMG, EAS Carb Sense Apple Cinnamon

bars taste like wax-covered sawdust with a p@@-flavored binder "

statement from the computers and brains of every person who has ever

read my blog entries or posts on these boards.

eDiets *is* comping me 6 months of membership for the story, BTW, and

reserving the right to use my photos in future EFL promotional

material. I told 'em they could use the more recent swimsuit progress

photos from my site if they wanted to show a more dramatic change,

heh, but they went with the smiley old one from August instead.

I don't know about the whole BFL/EFL thing now. BFL the book still

belongs to Bill , but I suspect that the BFL trademark is now

exclusively the property of EAS, hence the onslaught of BFL branded

MRPS and supplements on the market now even though is no

longer involved with EAS. One of the things that Porter Freeman

mentioned on Saturday night was that Bill was now focusing on

Eating for Life--almost as if EFL were a separate entity from BFL--and

his new transformation television series. His headquarters is

apparently in the building right next to EAS in Boulder, LOL.

I don't think an external motivator is why the majority of people

enter the official challenge. Without internal motivation no amount

of money or prizes will force a person to change. :) But I wouldn't

be exactly honest if I said the million dollars isn't a big deal. lol

My feelings are that if I'm going to follow the program I might as

well enter officially. I've got nothing to lose.

You're right about the internal motivation needing to be there if you

continue to stick to the program, but I think the problem is that too

many people go into BFL focusing only on external factors like the

official challenge/prize without making the true internal commitment

to switching to BFL for life, you know? It's as if they just skipped

the chapter in the book about setting goals and " crossing the abyss "

and went right for the food and exercise instructions.

They are gung-ho for 2-3 weeks, and then when " nothing happens " by

week 4, that lack of real internal drive and motivation comes into

play and the next thing you know, they are back to their old ways. I

know all about this because I had two false starts just like this in

2003 before I finally got my head and heart in order and truly made

the decision to change. Once that was in place, the actual act of

living BFL has been a piece of cake--read the book again, do some

research, ask a few questions about things you couldn't learn or

figure out on your own on message boards like this one, grab some

authorized recipes, join a gym, plan your workouts, and just do it.

:)

One hot summer's day a Fox was strolling through an orchard when he

came across a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine high upon a

lofty branch. " Just the thing to quench my thirst, " he stated.

Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed

the bunch. Determined to acquire the grapes he desperately wanted, he

turning and again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no

greater success. Again and again he tried to attain the grapes, but

eventually he chose to give it up. As he turned and walked away to

find more attainable grapes, he stated, with his nose high in the

air,: " Who cares, I'm sure the grapes were sour anyway. "

Maggie that is so awesome you had an interview like that! How did you get to do

that?

I may have missed the post with you talking about it so you can direct me to

that

number. =)
