Guest guest
The audit commission report out today reports that health inequalities in the under 5s are generally widening, despite the huge amount of money spent over the last 10 years. It notes the fall in health visiting numbers but does not really comment beyond that. It points to the expense and drain on mainstream staffing caused by the introduction of Family Nurse Partnership, says both that programme and expansion of Sure Start Centres are too new to have had an effect yet on inequalities. It provides a useful appendix of all the policies about health inequalities over the last 10 years and comments that most are directed at 0-19years, which has been interpreted as being about school years, so 0-5year olds miss out.
