Hi AislingThere is a brilliant centre set up in Bridlington called the Honeysuckle centre, which was set up by a dedicated midwife , Maureen Hickson, she has done her BFeeding consultancy course, I think it has a cafe, it runs lots of groups linked into the children's c, offers BF support, including on call system for BF support and even has a little shop with BF.eq and 2nd hand cloths. They also do a loan scheme for Breast feeding eq. From what I remember its run as a charity with some children's c support. Although the whole aim of the centre is to promote breast feeding it is open to bottle feeding as well (after all the bottle feeding mums may want to breast feed next time round, so great way to change attitudes and offer support for the future ). Its a very popular centre with mums. The phone no of the Honey suckle centre is:01262676072. If you ask for Maureen she should be able to help you.Good luck! Anyway I would really value feedback as we now have a steering group and it has been agreed by the other members that the venue should be just as welcoming and inclusive of bottle feeding mothers. Now I would never turn anybody away, but the whole point of it is to get women out and breastfeeding in public in a supportive environment. Breastfeeding is what we are meant to be promoting!? What do other people think?/How has this been managed in other areas? best wishes Aisling (HV Camberley) From: [ ] On Behalf Of Cowley [sarahcowley183@...]Sent: 25 March 2011 19:13 Subject: Re: NMC triaging Thank you for letting us know, Liz. Yet another failure of NMC to protect the public, by the sound of things. Good to know that Dickon thinks it is unlikely that a registrant referred for disciplinary matters would be a health visitor, I suppose! When I had a conversation with him in the context of the CPHVA campaign to get health visiting restored to statute last summer, he said he did not worry about the public being at risk from the way health visiting is regulated. One reason for his lackof concern, was the fact that he did not receive letters about health visitors. I did point out that that might be because nobody knew the NMC was supposed to regulate health visitors, as there is no mention of them on the NMC website, or the leaflet producedby CHRE telling people which body regulates which health professionals, but he was not convinced!best wishesOn 25 Mar 2011, at 18:30, Meerabeau wrote:I was at a presentation yesterday by Dickon Weir-.
