Guest guest
I'm sorry I missed this!!! Do you have an address we could send our stories to? I have heard of the moisture meters that inspectors use to measure dampness in walls. The electricity is interesting because that's one of the questions Dr. Shoemaker asked me when I first saw him. I had many electric shocks from things that I touched and had terrible sleeping problems. During the day the fatigue was almost coma like but at night I couldn't go to sleep and would be awake most of the night. I can't stand to be around scented candles which give me headaches that last for about 24 hrs. The only thing I can do is go to bed with an icepack and only time will take get rid of it. Taking two darvocet doesn't even help at all. Thanks for sharing the info. Sue The Today Show this morning featured the topic of how your house may be making you sick and guests who were from this show were from this website: _http://greennest.http_ (http://greennest.com/) Person on show used a hand held moisture detector up to walls to help to find leaks. I wonder how well those work? Some people here who inspect homes may have some input on those. Also, they discussed too much electricity in the air. They said that the 'electrical voltage' coming off of a sleeping childs skin there was more than 1 volt. Person said that can cause hyperactivity and sleep problems. It is from too much electricity in house air. In this case crib was up against a wall that high voltage wires went through. They also mentioned mold and dust mites in carpeting and other things, scented candles (said you can buy candles made from vegetable oil like soybean oil that are unscented), etc. ..so pretty interesting
Guest guest
Hi Sue, Apparently looking at the greennest.com site they have been on other shows, so perhaps telling 'them'/people at Greennest. The Today Show did have a couple from San Diego, CA (you wouldn't think that area would have mold issues but...?) featured on story. They weren't real sick but woman said her son/s, who were quite young, had asthma so said she would be cleaning up the house now, and was surprised by all the 'health problems' found. I found the electricity thing real interesting too. I have two computers on all the time and more than one tv set on sometimes just as 'background' noise so perhaps that isn't good. Woman said you can get something that you actually switch the circuit breaker off at night for bedroom. I don't know how that would work. House could also be near high electric transmitters. Something else to consider. I shock everything and everyone during the winter but I think in my case it's dehydration. I guess I could be 'charged' also! I certainly sit in front of my computer enough. I also have a Tivo going constantly, which is a computer that emits a constant faint sound that reminds me of tinnitis/(ringing in ears) that I've gotten used to but is proof of electricity it is sending off. You can't turn them off or they can't tape shows. They tape all day and all night. Whatever time you turn on television, they have the last 20 minutes of whatever channel it is tuned to, so if you tune it on at 15 min past 9 and you like the show that is on, you can back up tape and watch it from the beginning, etc. Maybe I will unplug it before I go to bed. I wonder how well the moisture meters work. I see them from $30 to over $400. Noone testing for mold came with one. Well...they did come with hand held gauge that gave the percent of humidity. I thought that was handheld humidity gauge, but maybe it was moisture meter..? It wasn't a 'feature' story. It lasted about 5 minutes but at least it was something and they discussed topic of perhaps your home is making you sick! I looked for info on segment on the Today Show website but couldn't find anything, just got info at greennest.com, which sells a CD on topic, products and other things. > > > I'm sorry I missed this!!! Guest guest
I wonder if there is too much electricity in the air in my apartment. At times I can't sit still. I have to shake something off me, and many times I've thought; 'it sure feels like electricity'. Maybe some adults are bothered by this too, not just the very young. Also, it might not have to be a high voltage, some of us can feel it at lower voltages. We are surrounded be a lot of electicity. > > The Today Show this morning featured the topic of how your house may > be making you sick and guests who were from this show were from this > website: > > http://greennest.com/ > > Person on show used a hand held moisture detector up to walls to help > to find leaks.
