That is where some of my people are from -- my branch came to America around 1798, but some of my relatives have visited our relatives there and done research for the family history. Now I'm even more interested in what you grow -- then I can picture what my relatives could be growing and what their gardens may look like... Andrine Hello Adrien I am only about 50 miles ( if That.) from Llangollen. In fact I did my first massage course There . It is one of the most Beautiful Mystical Places in Wales, ( also one of the most expencive ) As Far as tracing your Family go. The Records are mostly Keept in Two places But through the ages with changing Bounders & the Migration of people.I found that they are in more than that. Her are the main ones in order of inportance today for the Llangollen area, If you can not find the URL on the Net please let me know & I can go into The Welsh Tourest office on Tuesday & get the correct URl for you , I can also check out with the With The Welsh office, were you should look in the event of my information being fruitless, If you know what their jobs were it makes things a lot easier. Llangollen is pronounced Clan-Goth-LAN or Than-Goth-LAN. Hawden ( Harden ) Records Office. Wrexham Records Office. Shrews bury ( England) records office. The records are all supposed to be held in Saint 's House London But I find they are lacking when you go outside England. ( meaning Irland Scotland Wales.) If they were Sea men. The seaman's Mission in Liverpool has a lot of records going back to the 15 hundreds as also most people who went to America sailed from Liverpool. Llangollen is very damp Their is lots of Fauna their I will ask a friend of mine But without doubt they would have grown comfry ( cant spell it don't have time to look it up sorry) in this era as here people used it as a cure all & it grows wild, they blended IT with Animal fat & called it " bone knit " for its ability to heal broken bones. Do you know that they have a international Estafford in Llangollen every year??. Hope this helps. Love & Light Gill. I will try & find out which churches were active in Llangollen at this time & phone for you if you give me some more information. Cheers Gill. Hay-on- Wye is very expensive..... now called the new Notting Hill Gate. (a very costly part of London for people unfamiliar) Llangollen is the area of the Dark Age warrior King Arthur (not the knight in shining armour) who fought against the Saxons to protect his homeland..... the Eistedfford (to folk who do not understand it is a yearly event celebrating music, poetry, etc in a competition with schools from all over Wales) very prestigious. Myddfai which is near where I live roughly the same sort of distance, has the legend of the Physicians of Myddfai.......with references to the lady of the lake..... a mystical place indeed. He, he,... here we go with Welsh pride of it's beautiful land and heritage...... Wales has many Mystical and Beautiful places. Good luck with your genealogy Andrine. It is exciting to be able to trace ones roots and have someone like Gill near by in Llandudno to be able to guide the way.... When my relatives left there, they were dirt poor and made square nails for their livelihood. I picture them living crammed into a little house with their animals and lots of mud. I'll take the rest of my reply offline to you since I've wandered off topic. Thank you SO much for your great info! Cheers, Andrine
