Lower the weight, increase the reps? Thats the usual standard reply. But really,I doubt you are going to look like Arnold. ;-) When the overall bodyfatloss catches up to the muscle growth, then you will have some nice definition in your arms instead of bulky ones. Second challenge, hows the food intake? Nutrition is like 80% of getting leaner, exercise only 20%, so tighten that up a bit to get any layer of fat off the body including the arms. <<joni>> *Lift well, Eat less, Walk fast, Live long*
Guest guest
Don't forget to stretch, stretch, and then stretch some more. It will really help with that long lean look you want. Take a look at your muscles too. You're body type will have a big impact on how they look. Are the muscle insertions located close to the joint or closer to the middle of the bone. This is most easily seen on the quads and where they insert above the knee. Mine are right on top of my knee but my DH's are up about 2 inches. This makes the muscle appear bigger than it actually is. > > This is my second challenge and I guess I am one of > those " exceptional " women who can put on muscle fast. > My arms are getting too muscular, not that lean, cut look I want. > Anyone have some suggestions? > > Thanks, > Lee
Guest guest
Anybody else have the problem of developing bigger arms than they want? This is my second challenge and I would like to have slimmer looking arms, not bulky ones like mine seem to be developing into. Any suggestions? Thanks, Lee
Guest guest
I wish my arms would get bigger! LOL. Seriously, though, do you still have a lot of fat to lose or are you already at goal weight/body fat? If you've still got a ways to go, and your arms are still carrying some fat, sticking with the program and simply getting leaner will probably give you slimmer arms. There's a lot more of the jiggly stuff at the back of a woman's arm than most of us realize. Since you're in your second challenge (and I assume still eating at a caloric deficit to lose fat), it's going to be tough for your body to truly get bulky. If you're at a good weight already and your arms are relatively lean, I wouldn't stop training your arms entirely, but you could use lighter weights to maintain what you have vs. overloading them and causing the muscles to grow larger. I've also heard some women advocate stretching exercises like pilates or yoga, but I have no personal experience with those disciplines and have really only seen women who were ALREADY lean raving about them. " Long and lean " won't happen by pumping your arms up and down really, really fast unless you are also dieting like a maniac, IMHO. And as a final note, in the weight training book " Supervixen, " the author claims that unless you WANT to develop some kickin' arm muscles, you don't necessarily have to train arms directly if you are training everything else because they will benefit indirectly from exercises for your back, shoulders, and chest. You could always try to drop the bicep and tricep exercises from your UBWO (triceps actually have a larger role in making arms look big) while keeping up with the rest of your program.
