Guest guest
Hi Everyone! I haven't posted in a while. I went on vacation to see my sister-and I ended coming back slimmer because she doesn't believe in going out to eat! And, I was worried about fitting workouts in??? Ha. Well-I have a small question-What happens if you don't fit all your meals in? Does it have adverse effects? Thanks, m.d. Hope you all are doing great and working hard toward reaching your goals!!!!!! I think as long as you are eating every 2 and a half to three hours you will be fine. The point is to keep your metabolism burning. Some days you may be able to get them all in and some days you may not but don't go longer than 4 hours without eating. Then you are defeating the purpose. Talk to you later. Guest guest
Whether it has any adverse effects depends on why and how you're missing the meals. If you need about 1,400 calories a day and you're getting that, it might not make any difference at all. But if the missed meals consistently leave you with barely 1,000 calories a day, it could be a problem. Someone who is feeling weak and tired and hungry is much more likely to quit, or to seriously binge on free day. Missed meals could also point to the opposite problem - you're not getting in all your meals because you're not hungry, and you're not hungry because your portions are too big. In which case you might not be creating a calorie deficit and that could hurt your results. You want to try to get all of the meals in because of the thermic effect of food. Every time you eat, especially every time you eat protein, your metabolism is boosted a little. Also, the smaller portion sizes mean that the food is much more likely to be used as fuel instead of stored as fat. Suppose two women with the exact same weight, activity level, and body composition were both eating 1,400 calories a day. One woman eats her food in seven 200 calorie meals spaced two hours apart, and one woman eats it in two rather whomping 700 calorie meals morning and night. Even though they're consuming exactly the same calories and all other factors are equal, the woman eating the mini-meals would burn fat much more efficiently and have better results. So, the bottom line is the calorie deficit, but if you combine the calorie deficit with proper portions and meal timing, you'll maximize your results. Guest guest
Hi m.d. Due to the lucky schedule I keep, (I can wake up anytime I want and go to bed as early as I want)there are often times that I don't get all of my meals in. I don't know about you, but early in the day I can begin to figure out that I probably won't be getting in all of my meals. On these days, I make my portions slightly larger, or I consider it a lower calorie day. Either way, I give myself some wiggle room and I have had great progress. Good luck! -Ruth > > Hi Everyone! > I haven't posted in a while. I went on vacation to see my sister- and > I ended coming back slimmer because she doesn't believe in going out > to eat!
