Guest guest
Carol Gray is an LMT working in NW PDX for a long time, originally a doula. She moved into craniosacral work in the past 10 years or so and works with infants as well as all others. She has a good reputation, but I'm blind to her training. I believe she works only subtly on the cranium. She's been teaching CS to other LMTs (and maybe doulas) for the past few years. Looking at the East-West College of Healing Arts page, I see that they have two chiros on faculty: Lori Fish, DC and Noel Snodgrass, DC. The latter teaches "adjustive techniques," I see. A couple of the faculty (LMTs) teach "craniosacral." Here's their catalogue: http://www.eastwestcollege.com/doc_lib/Catalog.pdf Sears, DC, IAYT1218 NW 21st AvePortland, Oregon 97209v: 503-225-0255f: 503-525-6902www.docbones.comOn Jul 13, 2010, at 6:04 PM, Sunny Kierstyn wrote: 'Craniosacral' is not owned by SOT or DCs and can basically be used by anyone. Guest guest
The massage therapists do a 'style' of craniosacral that seemed inordinately shallow to me so I have never put much stock in their approach. Guest guest
How I came to be aware of this person is that they are teaching a wide range of people – including unlicensed people- to do craniosacral work on newborns. That is what concerned me. s. fuchs From: Sunny Kierstyn [mailto:skrndc1@...] Sent: Wednesday, July 14, 2010 2:25 PM daniel.beebe@...; Sharron Fuchs Cc: Subject: RE: How are these people 'licensed'? Guest guest
The piece that I object is that Dr. DeJarnetter was quite specific that cranials are NOT and NEVER tobe don without previous assessment and correction of the pelvis. That fact (the sacral component) seems to have been forgotten. It is not just the cranial component....that doesn't move well when/if the pelvis is left locked. sk Sunny Kierstyn, RN DC Fibromyalgia Care Center of Oregon 2677 Willakenzie Road, 7CEugene, Oregon, 97401541- 654-0850; Fx; 541- 654-0834www.drsunnykierstyn.com CC: From: sharronf@...Date: Wed, 14 Jul 2010 14:49:56 -0700Subject: RE: How are these people 'licensed'? Guest guest
Sharron, From the course catalogue, it looks like he teachs adjusting at WSCC, not at the massage school. However, this is concerning if it's otherwise. I think cranio sacral has/is a fine line. I think it can be billed with an adjusitng code as extra-spinal 98943 or -51 if done with a spinal section on the same visit. This would be a good question for the association to discuss and bring to the OBCE attn if the state assoc feels cranio-sacral is adjusting only. I think traditionally, we've looked at it as interchangable. In otherwords, either soft tissue or osseous, depending on diagnosis and work-up. (We- being when I was on the board.) I'm not sure of the current sentiment. Altho there are LOTS of LMTs who do cranio sacral; so it may be difficult to sort out. Minga Guerrero DC Re: How are these people 'licensed'? Guest guest
Minga, The writeup/workup would indeed be the ddx between osseous and soft tissue approach or intent. Guess that's why I made the comment about 'shallow'.....less than osseous results seems less than effective to me these days. ;'-)) Sunny Sunny Kierstyn, RN DC Fibromyalgia Care Center of Oregon 2677 Willakenzie Road, 7CEugene, Oregon, 97401541- 654-0850; Fx; 541- 654-0834www.drsunnykierstyn.com sharronf@...CC: From: AboWoman@...Date: Wed, 14 Jul 2010 21:41:18 -0400Subject: Re: How are these people 'licensed'?
