I haven't read the article yet, but I totally agree. The first thing I want to

do when I'm tired is munch...which is why I opted for the nap yesterday :-)

BTW - I uploaded pics yesterday. 2 of me currently (a work in progress) and 1

of me two summers ago, after 4 weeks on BFL (where I want to be, and beyond...)

More sleep or .. a cookie?

Ran across an interesting article that studied the relationship

between lack of sleep, weight gain & obesity. As years have gone by

we Americans have cut our sleep needs down and have also been

steadily gaining weight. In these studies they correlated lack of

sleep to the hormones that are involved in possibly making the wrong

choice of foods. So get enough sleep and you are more likely to

reach for that lowfat yogurt over a cookie in the morning ;-)

With people like my husband who is a chronic insomniac, part of his

problem is he spends more time eating just because he is awake. He'd

eat less if he spent that time sleeping. In all fairness to him, he

did set up his road bike on on of those things where he can ride it

as a stationary bicycle so he is trying.

Just checking in from work but wanted to comment on this sleep thing... I used

to not worry much about sleep but since I started this new challenge I have set

one goal to states " I will get at least 7-8 hours a sleep a nite " ... Since I

have set this goal I have never gotten less sleep than 7 hours... I feel so much

better and stronger since I have been getting more sleep... Okay got to get back

to work.... have a great day! Juls

Good motivation to get me to get up and go to bed. I haven't sleep

all week, because I spent the week studying for finals. sleep is my

biggest struggle I have with diet and nutrition. I have improved

quite a bit this year (other than this week!)

By the way, I have enjoyed reading these posts again. I rarely had

time this semester. this board is very motivating.

Good night!
