NMC re-registration glitches

Hi

I think it was in June I had to re-register. I refused to tick the nursing box since I knew that I would not be able to sign my name saying that what I had put above was true. I rang up the NMC and talked this through with someone who went to talk to their 'manager' who said that that would be ok but that it would take longer to process! A week or so later I received one form saying that I was registered as a health visitor but not as a nurse. A week later I received another saying that I was registered on both registers! I haven't heard anything else since.

Many thanks to CPHVA for drawing to my attention the attached news

release from the NMC website; it seems that CEO Thewlis has now

left the NMC and Kathy is acting up in the interim. President

is still on Council, claiming she had only been in office a few

months whereas the problems were longstanding; former president is

also still on Council. I gather the unions have all joined forces in

trying to support the NMC through this 'difficult time,' and I am

pleased to hear that as part of that agreement (which is surely

needed because someone has to look out for both the public and the

professions), they are asking firm but searching questions about why

these people have not stood down completely.
