Guest guest
Can anyone explain to me why lifting weights is going to help lose fat? I always feel guilty when lifting instead of doing HIIT as it seems like I'm wasting precious fat burning time on making lovely muscles. Some people even believe more fat is burnt lifting than cardio...??? in NZ
Guest guest
I am not a weight lifting expert, and others will be able to give the whys and howfores, but I believe it isn't so much that you are burning fat lifting as it creates those lovely muscles that burn calories/fat even when you aren't actively lifting than HIIT does when you are doing it. So was that clear as mud? Pat > Can anyone explain to me why lifting weights is going to help lose > fat? Guest guest
When you do cardio, you burn calories while you're doing it and for awhile afterward. When you do a strenuous weight workout, you burn calories while you're doing it, but then continue to burn calories at an accelerated rate for another day or two during the recovery and repair process. If you manage to build some brand new muscle, that can permanently increase your resting metabolic rate and turn you into a calorie burning inferno even when you're not exercising. That makes it much easier to lose fat and keep it off. This site does a good job of explaining it in more detail. Fat loss tip #1 was " Train With Weights " http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/bodybuilding-supplements-guides/fat-loss-tips-\ 1.htm The other fat loss tips were, drink more water, eat 6 meals a day, and eat more protein. Sounds vaguely familiar. :-) And here's another good overview of cardio vs. weights for fat loss: http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article887.html On Mon, 20 Dec 2004 18:33:08 -0000, zesprii_75 <no_reply > wrote: > > > Can anyone explain to me why lifting weights is going to help lose > fat?
