Guest guest
Hey , Ohh, this one sounds interesting! IMHO, an impact could certainly change a fusion, destabilze the screws and change the positioning of the implant. About 5 years ago, I had a case that actually bounced a 300# woman enough to DOWNGRADE a long-established spondylolithesis by half! I sent those films out to Ty to make sure I wasn't crazy but, yep! It was real! With just the right positioning of the impact and fair speed, change of that apparatus would certainly seem possible to me. Go back and follow forward the films. Better use some microcurrent on it asap! Looking forward to the rest of the tale. Have a patient who had an anterior fusion of C5-6-7 2 years ago.Great results.Last Dec. (09) was in an MVA and is having elbow/arm neuritis.Neurosurgeon says it looks fine. His notes also say, there is “incomplete body fusion” at C5-6 (which wasn’t mentioned in previous films)AND one of the screws had backed out 2mm which the surgeon said was probably from the accident.I ordered the x-rays and I’m wondering if an impact so heavy that it would stress the fusion plate enough to back out a screw might also re-break the fused intevertebral disk repair. (It was repaired with a PEEK interbody spacer packed with bone debris from grinding off the spurs etc.)The surgeon said it was fine, stable, good, happy, and the neck was not causing the arm neuritis (how do he know, mah brotha?) and did he have a lawyer yet.(I’m not kidding.)Comments are welcome and I will share what I learn from the x-rays. Guest guest
Yes. When I get the films, I’ll timeline it out. Getting x-rays every 2 months as (I believe) the surgeon is watching that screw. E.
