Guest guest
Hi, all Today I can go and pick up the Amber (pinus > succinefera fossil) and the Ambrette Seed ABS (abelmoschus > moschatus). I've been following the posts on what the Seed is > supposed to smell like and I appreciate your input in the 'education of Lyn' Also, I have Labdanum, aka Ambriene, coming, too. Does it smell the same as Amber? > I read yesterday on Eden Botanicals website that there is no essential oil of Amber. 'Sup with that!? Is the one I mentioned above not an essential oil even tho it is sold as such? I guess I'll find out in a while what it smells like. Life is a great adventure. Your input would again be appreciated. Thanks so much. > > Blessings, > Lyn > Dear Lyn > > Sometimes Amber is used as an abbreviated term for Ambergris. But it also is a term for several other ingredients ..... Labdanum is also sometimes called Amber by perfumers.... confusing...? ! very................... > > Mandy Aftel in her book essence and alchemy page 97 gives a simple and beautiful amber recipe which is below ..... > > 30 drops labdanum > 120 drops benzoin > 6 drops vanilla.... > > This can be used as a base as a perfume, worn alone with a carrier ie oil or alcohol, or as a starter point for additional bases.... > > Janita > http://wwwhayspace.co.uk > http://janitasattars.blogspot.com > community group of natural perfumers Thanks so much, Janita. Yesterday I received the Amber (pinus succinefera fossil), the Ambrette Seed ABS (abelmoschus moschatus), and the Labdanum (cistus landifer). They all smell different and they all smell wonderful. Immediately, my mind went to what they would blend with and began writing down some feelings. We'll see where it leads. The amber essential oil smells sweet in a base way. Lovely. I looked up the latin binomial and found some great info at http://www.essential7.com/essentialoils/amberref.html Life is a great adventure.
