Re: Keeping track - with a notebook? on paper? on Palm Pilot?

Hi , and welcome to the group!

I just copied the worksheets out of the book in excel (I did this before I knew

you could download them) and I print one out every day that I work out,

including HIIT days, to log what I've done. I use that same sheet to write down

what I've eaten and when throughout the day, and also to track how much water

I've consumed. Sometimes I plan my meals, sometimes I don't - I guess I sort of

have a tentative plan in my head every day, and have the right food on hand.

I've been doing this on and off since I first started BFL back in July of 2003

and it's neat to have the sheets to look back on to see if I've improved on

strength and/or endurance. Of course you have to be consistent in order to

improve, which I haven't been, but I'm getting there :-) I keep the sheets in a

folder.

Hope that's what you were looking for!

Keeping track - with a notebook? on

paper? on Palm Pilot?

Yay! It's my first post!

I am curious how you best keep track of and plan your daily BFL and EFL. A

notebook?

Printouts from those downloads on the BFL site? A binder? A Palm pilot? Bill

'

book?

Thanks! I started the program last week, and haven't gotten all of my

materials in order

yet, looking for the best way (I know, failing to plan is planning to fail! -

I'm trying to get

on track!).

Thanks for your help!

I use my Palm OS PDA to track my food and my workouts. I use a

program called BodyAdvance ($12.95) to track the BFL workouts (handy

digital log sheets for HIIT and weights already set up for BFL) and

Diet and Exercise Assistant ($19.95) to track food intake and weight

changes and to calculate how much of a deficit I need to reach my

goals. DEA includes a pretty comprehensive and customizable food

database like Fitday.com, but it's a lot handier to have it in my

pocket than on a desktop computer. :) There are desktop versions of

both programs available, too, for about half the price of the Palm OS

versions. Go figure... Both are available at Handango.com as trial

versions. Check out the desktop versions if you have the chance.

Anyhow, I like the portability of Palm logging. I have over 6 months

of food logs and workouts saved on my dinky lil' PDA instead of a huge

binder loaded with dead trees.

I downloaded the sheets from the website, punched holes in them and

put it all in a 3-ring binder for my first challenge. I also printed

helpful posts from the group, motivational quotes, authorized recipes,

fitness articles. It was a nice to be able to mark it all up,

re-arrange it, re-print pages.

I own the Success Journal but it's on a shelf somewhere. It seemed too

shiny and intimidating to actually write in. Like what if I filled out

3 pages and never touched it again? I'd have marked up a pristine book

for nothing. I preferred my nutty professor binder where I could

scribble and crumple things up.

So glad to see you respond to this Maggie. I just downloaded fitday

but I really need to get one that will work on my Ipaq as well.

Guess I'll be checking out that site to see if it's compatible with

Ipaq.

- I use a couple of excel spreadsheets (1 for food, 1 for training)

each week and then clip them in to a binder and start the next week.

Sometimes I use Fit Day too, but having just 2 pieces of paper with me all

the time has worked for me. I'm happy to share if you want them.

I use a program called Nutribase, which keeps lets me track my

calories and percentages of protein, carbohydrates and fat and log

in all my workouts. It's extremely user friendly and can be used

with a Palm Pilot.

If anyone would like a spreadsheet in either excel or works for

logging in meals, I've got one already done and would be glad to

email it or download it into the files section.
