Hi RANDI You are very welcome! I am one of the mods here. This group is just great, it's is a school of natural perfumery just by itself. > So - here's a question that's eluded me... But, quickly - How do you blend the various mediums? Not > for the finale product but for preliminary work. For example - can > you blend tinctures and eo's together? In my experience, which is not much, it is completely possible to blend tinctures and absolutes and EOs together, they all dissolve readily in alcohol or a carrier oil. Some of the thicker absolutes need to be thinned a bit by heating or just use a little scoop to measure the amount you need. The concretes sometimes need to be filtered out before bottling the perfumes. The best thing to remember is there a no hard and fast rules, and experimenting and making mistakes is the only sure way to get to know your materials. Work with as little as possible when you are experimenting, in drops not mls. Record everything you do and if you mess up you can use it as a lesson. Even spilling stuff can be turned into a learning experience through which we can get intimately aquainted with an essence even it is a very intense and unplesant. encounter.
