Hi Everybody,

I hope you all had a great holiday and had time to relax and take it

easy. I just had to tell you about my latest pursuit, spurred on by

something that happened on Christmnas day as myself and my husband

were preparing the veg for dinner. We were peeling parsnips and my

husband commented on the lovely smell of the parsnips. I knew they had

a distinctive smell but it was the first time that I took a few good

deep smells. It smelled like a cross betwwen freshly cut timber and a

garden center, it was sweet, woody and earthy. I thought about drying

the parsnip and tincturing it. I will have to wait till we have more

parsnips in stock as we roasted what we had and ate them ...Yummy!

Well I had a look on the internet today to see what I could turn up. I

found some stuff suggesting that parsnip root contains a mammalian sex

hormone namely " androstenon " . Which is apparently a boar hormone.

Has anybody else ever done any work with parsnip?

Ruth
