Guest guest
Does anyone here have a scale accurate enough to determine the precise (down to .001 or .0001 grams) weight of: a drop of water a drop of alcohol a drop of a light-weight essential oil ? If scales are supposed to be more accurate than using drops, the scale would need to very precisely discriminate between these three different drops, the discrepancy between various essential oils, and between the usual drop and one that comes out at 80% the usual size. So, I have a blend in mind. 1 drop of A, 1 drop of B. If the difference between a drop of eo A and a drop of eo B is, say, ..005 grams (one might weigh .014 grams and the other .019 g), that probably won't matter a lick on a small scale but if the batch consists of ounces, all of a sudden that .005-gram difference might make a huge difference to the overall effect of a perfume, especially if one of the oils had a high odor intensity, wouldn't it??? And if a scale measures to .001 gram BUT could be off by .001 or .002 grams in either direction, then the larger batch of perfume may be just as off as it would be using the drop method. I'm asking myself and you all...Why buy a scale unless it can accurately determine small differences?? To guarantee accuracy of .001 g, one would then need a scale that reads pretty precisely to .0001 grams....and then we're in the $1000-$1800 range for that scale. ~Jen
