Guest guest
I apolgize if I missed part of this thread, but what drugs induce hepatitis? Lourdes " Sal " Salvador, salvadorlourdes@... [] Drug induced Hepatitis can be fatal Apparently drug induced hepatitis is very serious, so take care of your liver. From Indiana Journal of Dermatology A 57 year old woman dies of drug induced hepatitis and rash: http://tinyurl.com/r9dgl ABSTRACT: A 57 year old female presented with generalized erythematous scaly plaques of one and half months duration and jaundice since 1 month. She was on leflunomide since 3 months for chronic rheumatoid arthritis. Investigations revealed positive ANA, rheumatoid factor and negative anti-DsDNA. Bilirubin and liver enzymes were markedly raised. Viral markers were negative. Direct immunoflourescence did not show lupus band. A diagnosis of drug induced hepatitis and skin rash was made. She was treated with cholestyramine but she died after ten days of hospitalisation. Uppal M, Rai R, Srinivas C,. Guest guest
Well, in alternative medicine, the liver is considered the most important organ of your body so there is much written about it. If you go to Liver Foundation.org, they explain alot, but just briefly, the liver has to get rid of all the drugs you take, so any kind of drugs but some kinds are harder on liver. Usually you will see it mentioned in a medicine insert, those long things in tiny print that if you have liver trouble, you should check with your doctor. You can assume that drug in particular if it is mentioned is harder on your liver. Tylenol is most otc drug associated with liver damage. Antifungals are another. Usually Tylenol will only hurt you if you are regular taker of it, maybe someone who takes it daily for arthritis or something has to watch for sign. However if your liver is compromised by other things such as other drugs hard on liver, or disease (perhaps toxins??). In my case for the last two years I have had chronic mono, EBV, and that is a virus that is listed that can cause hepatitis, with small 'h'. Hepatitis with lower case 'h' is liver inflamtion. Liver inflamation caused by Hepatitis, capital 'H', is viral Hepatitis, like Hep A, B,C, etc. However whatever the cause of liver inflamation, results are the same, liver damage. So I have this rash now and other symptoms of liver problems I won't list here, going for catscan in a few days but thought I would warn others as I did not know this. I was only taking 2-3 Tylenol daily for the last few weeks. I thought that wouldn't hurt me, but for the past year I have had this same rash come and go in association with other drugs also (Nystatin) and supplements (ALA). Since anyone who has significant exposure to mold can have toxic liver conditions, just thought I would let people know you may need to go extra easy on things that could affect your liver. > > I apolgize if I missed part of this thread, but what drugs induce hepatitis? > > Lourdes " Sal " Salvador, salvadorlourdes@... > >
