Guest guest
Hi Ladies, two questions are on my mind: (1)I've seen glycemic charts and recommendations on how much fat or calories someone should eat daily, but what about sugar? Is there a certain amount of sugar grams someone can eat daily before it goes overboard? How would I determine how much is too much sugar. (2) Are the Light and fit yogurts ok to eat? Each 6 oz container has almost 12 grams of sugar. Thanks
Guest guest
<<Is there a certain amount of sugar grams someone can eat daily before it goes overboard? How would I determine how much is too much sugar>> Limiting sugar content in foods is an important if not overlooked factor in fatloss - if you understand how sugar works in the body you will understand why it is a direct fatloss inhibitor (insulin keeps packing it away for a rainiy day that never comes!) http://www.geocities.com/jgrrl2/sugar.html <<Are the Light and fit yogurts ok to eat? Each 6 oz container has almost 12 grams of sugar>> The least amount of sugar in yogurts are around 11 or 12 grams per container (hehe some have up to 42!!! yikes!!) unless they are sugarfree (havent found any in our area tho but I think there is a sugarfree brand out there)When you know that 4grams of sugar is equal to 1 teaspoon of sugar then three teaspoons of sugar is whats in these yogurts. Not that bad but then we arent eating them five times a day and are probably having some cottage cheese or other protein with them anyways so sure I think they are an ok choice. <<joni>> *the average American consumes 148lbs of sugar in a year - and they wonder why we are fat*
Guest guest
An influx of sugar into the bloodstream upsets the body's blood-sugar balance, triggering the release of insulin, which the body uses to keep blood-sugar at a constant and safe level. Insulin also promotes the storage of fat, so that when you eat sweets high in sugar, you're making way for rapid weight gain and elevated triglyceride levels<http://www.healingdaily.com/conditions/triglycerides.htm>, both of which have been linked to cardiovascular disease. Complex carbohydrates tend to be absorbed more slowly, lessening the impact on blood-sugar levels. To burn fat generally you want to keep your total sugar intake below 20 grams a day. To give you an idea of the amount of sugar in certain foods I have noted that 1/2 cup of nonfat cottage cheese is approximately 2 grams, 1 cup of nonfat milk is approximately 12 grams, and 1 medium apple is approximately a whopping 16 grams of sugar. These are considered " healthy " foods, but still play a major role in elevating your insulin levels. Eating refined sugar on top of a clean diet will totally inhibit your body's ability to burn fat. Make sure you read your labels if you are eating processed foods. Hope this helps!!
