Guest guest
Since the real intention of this thread was to talk about " Bunk " oils, how about the purposeful substitution of australian or vanuatu sandalwood oil for E. Indian? (Yes, don't flame me, I realize the need for sustainable sourcing and ethical harvesting. My issue here is with mislabeling). For quite a while the Aura Cacia brand passed on its Australian as E. Indian even though the testers in the front of their racks still contain E. Indian. (Sampling a product that doesn't represent the stock on the rack behind it). My issue with them was that they didn't mention a word about the change to customers, and continued to charge the same price for the oil. It bothers me that someone would think we're not discerning enough to know the difference between s. spicatum and s. album. I sent a whole raft of e-mails to them and a snail mail letter about this and never got a single reply. Very, very recently, I bought some " Snow Lotus " brand sandalwood oil that also claimed to be E. Indian. It was not. I find this really objectionable from a company that bases its marketing on a spiritual foundation. I e-mailed the owner about this (, snowlotus@...) to find out what the deal was. No response as of yet.

If his nose isn't trained, and he doesn't, or can't afford to do GCMS's, he may have been fooled. You can ask for your money back, but many don't refund open bottles. I actually think many suppliers are just too lazy to update their labeling, not realizing what an important difference it is between Australian and E. Indian. BTW, Anya or others, I have saved a whole bunch of Oshadhi 5 ml. bottles of Agmarked wildcrafted S. Album that I guarantee are the real deal and unopened. I began picking them up when it seemed that real sandalwood would be unaffordable. I have collected so many that I can actually pass them on if someone needs a little of the real stuff (price only to be mentioned on Ad day, but ask me privately). :>/
