The fecal note, if used properly, well diluted, as a modifier, is

glorious in perfume. I haven't used civet, but it's history in

perfumery is something that can't be ignored, from a historic and

aesthetic standpoint. Ambergris, which is much lighter and absolutely

beautiful after aging in alcohol or oil, I do use because it is

harvested in a cruelty-free manner. What a little ambergris does to a

blend cannot be denied, it marries all the levels of notes, imparts a

smoothness and truly lives up to the name " modifier " .
