On this note, coconut oil is also effective against bacteria and

viruses that have a fatty coat. This includes almost all of the most

dangerous bugs on the planet, such as HIV, hepatitis C, pneumonia, and

many others. It works by making short-chain fatty acids available,

which the viruses or bacteria use to replace damaged fats in their

coats. Because the fatty acids are short-chained, the coats fall

apart, and the body's immune system can kill off the unprotected bugs.

Adding antiviral/antibacterial essential oils, such as lavender and

patchouli, to the coconut oil increases its effectiveness by knocking

down the viral or bacterial population quickly. Neither coconut oil

nor essential oils cause antibiotic resistance, so they are safer for

everyone.
