Oh no! Don't burn it down. In heat treatment they tent the house (ask for a

new tent that has not been used with Vikane gas before) and put a heater inside.

They heat the house until the core temp of the wood is hot enough to kill the

termites... about 8 - 12 hours. Then they remove the tent and you are good to

go... if you don't mind a sauna for a home for a few hours! LOL Only catch is

you have to remove anything with a motor like the refrigerator and such during

the treatment.

Good luck!

What is the heat treatment? Burning the place down comes to mind.

I don't think that heat would kill mold spores unless the heat was very hot.

(hot enough to start a big fire) You would not want to do that. Cold (dry

ice) would be much better.. (ask *professionals* about that, dry ice can be

dangerous, and doing remediation with dry ice requires specialized equipment

and training.)

Also - I know that many mycotoxins are stable up to VERY high temperatures

(500 degrees or more) and also, that they can last in a building for many,

many years if left unaddressed.

Some people use small heaters to warm up houses in places that tend to get

moldy and dry them out. That could help reduce future mold growth, but it

wouldn't do anything to address any mycotoxins that have already been

produced by the mold that is there now, except help liberate them..

Do it. That seems like the best course of action for cleaning up a bad

situation. If you can afford it. (I bet a lot of people can't)
