Guest guest
CSM should be taken on an empty stomach. Taking is 4X a day was difficult so I would mix mine up the night before in a small plastic jug and another with water. I left them right by my bed so very early in the AM I could take it without getting up and then I went back to sleep. When I got up in the morning I could eat right away and take my other meds. The 2nd would be before lunch about 11AM, another (about 4 or 5PM) an hr. before dinner and then another before bed. Eating should be at least an hr. later. It's not easy but takes a schedule that works for you. I always mix mine in the little kids sippy jugs so I could take it with me any where I go. They're the little plastic jugs kids use for lunch, just remove the straw, mix, shake and drink! Very easy to do and no mixing when you are away from home. Sue I noticed on reading on CSM (and Welchol) dosing instruction that they say they should be taken 'WITH' meals. Is anyone taking it that way? I've been taking it BETWEEN meals. At least 2 hours after a meal and then waiting about an hour before eating a meal after taking it. I think most people are taking it a half hour before meals. However it seems as though taking it in association with a meal might be important for how it works, since it needs to bind to bile acids in food in the intestines. If it is too far away from meals there won't be any bile acids in intestines I would think.
Guest guest
The confusion is understandable. The reason it is taken with meals for the reduction in cholesterol, is to adsorb the lipids when they are being eaten. This is the labeled use for the medication, so the instructions reflect that. The reason for taking it between meals to pick up toxins, is so it doesn't take up all the nutrients, too. The toxins are there all the time, and it works better for that when it is taken between meals. Shoemaker knows what he's doing, so following his instructions will give you better results. I don't take this, but I have read the lit on it. > > I noticed on reading on CSM (and Welchol) dosing instruction that they > say they should be taken 'WITH' meals.
