Guest guest
Maybe we should get in touch with Al Gore and fill him in the mold issue. He might be just the person who will listen.!! Sue The Al Gore movie on global warming opened here in LA last week, and I went to see it yesterday - very powerful. I'm sending the 'pledge' to the list, and I'd like to encourage you all to indicate that you'll see it the opening weekend that it's in your neighborhood. One of the most powerful messages from the film was Gore quoting Mark Twain - and it relates exactly to our situation and convincing others to take our experiences seriously: " What gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so. "

Guest guest
Actually, when he was running for presidnet he PERSONALLY KNEW A CHEMCIALLY INJURED PERSON and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about addresisng the issue when he expereinced it first hand. Don't assume becasue he is a democrat he is 100% environematally friendly. FOr example, we have HArry REid, minority whip in the Senate. HArry is my senior senator from NV. Dear ole HArry is the BIGGEST ENIGMATIC DEMOCRAT in the environmental arena. Let me show you how they fool their constituents...l Lets say that there was a democratic convention years ago, lets say that a very vocal environmealt senator is thrown a party by a MAJOR CHEMICAL COMPANY in southern NV. Of course, unless his constituents were looking at the tv they would not have seen their contritubtions to his campaign. Now, how can you be pro environment and receive funds from a large chemical comoany. Campign donations are taken and promises made....we are not made aware of such things. Voters beware....mony/contribtions makes strange bedfellows or secret paramours! Guest guest
I'm not trying to defend either person discussed here, but our political system has inherent forces that steer candidates toward corruption - bottom line is generally that you have to raise more money than the other guy to get elected, and that does tend to create very strange alliances, even for people who would like to think of themselves as unbiased. The way to turn that around is to have publicly funded campaigns so that business entities don't have a disporportional access advantage - two states have done it already, I understand, and California has it on the ballot this fall as The Clean Money Fair Elections Act. If you want to read about it, the URL is CAclean.org.
