Reading Labels: A Reality Check

In my opinion, overall, not much has changed in eliminating toxic and

unhealthy products

in our homes since this was published ten years ago.

In the workplace, lower risk products are routinely sought after..... for

liability, health,safety, etc.

As safer products are used, the production, consumption and pollution of the

environment

by more toxic chemicals will decrease. China will have major environmental

problems as

a result of fast growth at the expense of limited or no pollution control.

Believe it or not ,even

Walmart has requirements for suppliers in China to be more environmentally

responsible.

Today with California's Proposition 65 ready to eliminated by Congress

it's up to us to educate the rest of the public the relative risk and who

should avoid what.

For example pregnant women should avoid estrogenic mimicking agents such as

pesticides or

phthalates (contained in many plastics including water bottles).

We all should avoid bug chalk from China (contains DDT), lead containing

candy from Mexico,

hydrogenated (partially or fully) oils, artificial food coloring (i.e. red

40 and yellow 5), cottonseed oil

(cotton is not a food crop and is heavily sprayed w/pesticides), mercury

dental fillings, products containing

the halogens bromine, chlorine and fluorine just to name a few.

Organic foods and elimination of pesticides, as opposed to natural products,

has been proven in numerous

studies to help, from reduction of birth defects to learning improvement. As

far as citrus solvents being hazardous, I recommend using the natural

product and only when you need a strong degreaser.

D-limonene can be natural or synthetic. Some or all of the adverse health

affects reported with D-limonene may be due to the synthetic version. There are

many studies showing healthful benefits of citrus byproducts. It can

trigger asthmatic attacks in sensitized people, yet help breathing for acute

bronchitis,

sinusitis and other respiratory conditions. _1–7_

Lemon essence has been shown to be a profound enhancer of mental

concentration and accuracy. Japanese studies demonstrated that only a faint

hint of

this ethereal in the air resulted in a 54% reduction in typing error. Regarded

as cleansing and a preventor of putrefaction. Stimulating to new cell growth.

Calming and cheering - improving one's sense of humor. Increased blood cell

production and associated increase in energy. Awakens the liver. General tonic

assisting nutrient transport all the way through to the inside of each cell

wall. A bone builder synergist. Often used for relieving sore throat.

I will try to keep you up to date on pertinent environmental health concerns.

As President Regan once remarked, we must practice self help.
