Mold to cost a quarter mill — to start with

It'll cost Forrest County $238,000 to start cleaning the mold out of

the courthouse in Hattiesburg.

Supervisors say that's how much the cleanup crew they've selected

will charge to remove the microbacteria that has been blamed for the

sinus problems of some courthouse employees.

Files will be cleaned, wallpaper and sheet rock will be removed if

necessary, officials say. And after that work is done, the county

will take bids on renovations. No word on what the price tag for

that may be.

Meantime, justice court judges are steamed over the board's decision

to move everyone out of the courthouse into the newly renovated

Masonic Temple. That building was supposed to house only the justice

court.

Supervisors say it could be six months to a year before the circuit

court is able to move back to its former offices.
