Some students at a local high school say there's something in the

air and it's not healthy. Students at Northside High say many rooms

are infested with mold and it's making some teachers sick.

The school system would not allow our cameras inside the school but

a few students say it's a problem. " I've seen it in hallways, the

band room, just walking through the hallways and ceilings, " said

freshman Marc . Another student said janitors have to deal

with it on a daily basis. " You can see them going around, painting

over it, " Colin Klimowski told News-7.

Administrators will not comment about the mold until after a faculty

meeting Wednesday afternoon. The school system did however provide

us with the last air quality test which was conducted two years ago.

I worked at a school building. Those that got sick and blamed the building

were just label crazy. They denied denied denied for 6 years. I finally was

really push over my limit when they began to try to clean up the mold

without cleaning the air quality problem first. Their own consultants warned

them

not to do it that way. But they were more concerned with what showed. It

was the use of chemical, fungicides and mildew killers that finally pushed me

over the edge and did permanent damage. Millions of dollars of clean up

later,, they finally had to admit there might be a problem the building is

still

not safe. I would Never send a child into that knowing what I know now.

I had students who remained after I was unable to work and although I thought

once they left the building they would regain their health what I found was

that these kids had permanent damage. They were able to function and finish

HS but seeing them years later they still had symptoms. I had hoped that

their age would help them recover once out of the environment. Indoor air

quality is so poor that I guess that makes it unlikely and they don't even

realize they have permanent damage. After all they go to the Dr who can't find

anything wrong with them. I loved 60 minutes report on the terrible indoor

air quality in the EPA building in Washington and these people are the

experts who are watching out for the American public. I won't suggest that

anyone

stay in a building that has these problems no matter who assures you that it

is now safe. I don't think they know who to fix them anymore than they

understand who to fix the effects on the people in them.
