Guest guest
Yes, down (feathers) can be an " allergen " or exacerbate unhealthy immune response in people (and some people can tolerate duck down but not goose feathers). You can get organic cotton batting to stuff the pillows. I haven't purchased it for many years but you might just advise them to do a search on organic cotton batting (that is what they stuff zafus (meditation cushions with). However, they can also resort to a resource for people with a preponderance of allergies. There used to be a catalogue company called the Allergy Shop, just looked on web and (don't know or think it is the same one) there is one in Canada called that and something called achooallergy in u.s. and they do have cotton bedding, etc., but looks pricy. Lastly Debra Lynn Dadd has written books on environmentally safer products, a book something like Nontoxic and Natural. That is an old one, she may have more recent ones or other people have come forward and moved the work along. By now there is a whole growing market for this type of thing. Hope this helps. , 925-785-7880, Los Gatos, San Ramon Q: Down pillow allergies > >Hi Fellow Docs, >I was wondering if any of you have found down pillows to be a problem for children with repeated bronchial infections and allergies.
