That's a great idea, Ruth, long overdue on this group. Your photo is so sweet, it's easy to see you're crafty ;-) My " organ " . Sigh. Big cabinets and little refrigerators with boxes inside arranged by types of aromatics - citrus, florals, woods, etc. I haul them out, array what I need around me, then back they go. I leave the whole supply out for a few hours, put them away, then haul them out again for mods. Oh, and then there's the tinctures in all mismatched jars! One of these days I'll take a pic and call it " chaos " . Forgot to mention all the containers full of samples, ruhs, attars, etc that are still being evaluated. Mercy. I have a lot. Not all is chaos, however -- I can find something within five minutes of looking for it, no matter how obscure, or how little the sample. I do have a photographic mind like that. All my bottles are arranged alphabetically inside the boxes (plastic boxes with snap lids) alphabetically, with little round labels on top with the first three letters of the name of the oil-- common name. It is where art is being created after all. The shelves in the photo a friend gave them to me years ago as she had no where to put them and it turned out to be perfect. It even has two little drawers in the bottom for testing strips and odds and ends. The website where I saw all the jewelry benches had all sorts, some were amazing studio like Mandy Aftel has and some were in the corner of the garage or living room. Guest guest
, can I just say I absolutely love your space!!! That is something I would love to have. This area certainly wouldn't support it, unfortunately. But if I ever become a millionaire that's exactly the kind of place I'd be opening... Just wow! (duh! - why didn't i think of that earlier!) -linda The Perfumer's Apprentice
Guest guest
Cocoon jessica I love your space. The colour is really nice. It looks like a lovely place to work and linda your shop looks amazing! I went to the Burren Perfumery today. It is so beautiful. It is in the middle of the Burren in Ireland. The Burren, for those of you who have never heard of it, is famous for its limestone landscape (looks a bit like the surface of the moon more than earth) and its flora, which is alpine. It is home to many unusual flowers and some protected species like the wild orchid. There are no other inhabited buildings in sight. It is hidden away in a copse of hazel trees. We were surprised to find the parking lot full, as was the organic resturant. We got to see the still and the garden and the shop. I had a chat with the woman who owns it, " " and I told her about this brilliant group. She said she would join us in the fall when things are not so busy for her. I posted some pictures of the perfumery in the album....I didn't get to see the blending room. I wish it were my work space but it's not. I love it anyway!
