Hi

In our area we have developed a competency framework to assist with

training and what the staff nurses and cnn can do, which I would be

happy to send you if you wish. The CPHVA has also just launched their

competency framework and best practice guidelines for cnns.

Our staff nurses and cnn would carry out developmental checks on our

core families over 1 year. They would also assist in clinics, a & e follow

ups, parenting classes and home visits for follow up weights etc. The

cnn have been a really great in the teams in the offering of packages of

care for behaviour management, play etc.

I would also like to know how trusts keep there CNNs updated in first

aid as ours have requested training as they have stated they need 3

yearly updates to maintain their qualification. I can't see anything

about this in the CPHVA guidelines and CACHE haven't been able to answer

this query. I am happy to develop this training but wondered whether

anyone else out there was doing this or buying it in?

I also wondered if anyone was doing any work in intergrated community

nursing teams across school nursing and health visiting, including cnn

as well as staff nurses, as we are just strating to look at this more.

staff nurses allowed to undertake developmentals? Do they visit at 3

months to discuss weaning etc? What scope do they have? Are they and

nursery nurses allowed to discuss issues like constipation? I am

interested in all aspects of what your teams are doing.

What pay scale are Health Visitors being paid if they manage a skill

mix team?
