Families to settle mold contamination lawsuit

Daycare center will pay an undisclosed amount.

NEWPORT BEACH – Six families agreed this week to settle their mold

contamination lawsuits against a now closed Newport Beach child

daycare facility for an undisclosed amount of money.

Newport Beach attorney B. Schwartz argued for the families

that Childtime Daycare allowed toxic mold to fester in areas where

children slept, ate and played.

The facility, which cared for 80 to 100 children, closed in 2003

after it was cited by the California Department of Social Services

and ordered it to clean up mold growing in several buildings,

Schwartz said.
