Guest guest
Hi, just an FYI. I've also done this with the white labels and not had any problems. Barbara
Guest guest
First, here's some advice I copied from Merin at Soap Junkie: From Merin at Soap-Junkie: " One question I see quite frequently on the lists I belong to is " How do I keep the ink on my labels from running when they get wet? " Sure, there are labels for inkjet printers that are waterproof once printed. But if you want clear labels (a much classier look, IMO) they can be upwards of $0.40 *per label*. I don't know what you think, but to me that's too much! After much trial and error, I have settled on this method. I use Avery's clear 8663 shipping labels, which are around $20 for 250 ($0.08 per label) at my local Office Depot, Office Max, or Staples store. Then I go to Wal-Mart and get Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze, which is about $3 a can. Print the labels as usual. Then spray them with a *full wet coat* of the glaze - don't skimp or it won't work. It takes me about 20 seconds to spray a sheet. Let them dry thoroughly (12 to 24 hours depending on humidity). Once dry, they will be super glossy and completely splashproof. I tested them by soaping up my hands and " washing " a bottle under water for a few minutes. Then I took the same bottle and submerged it in a glass of water. Only after two straight hours of complete immersion did I notice any effect whatsoever, and that effect was that the glaze started to chip off when I ran my fingernail across it. But the ink was still perfectly intact. And, the label itself was showing no signs of starting to peel off...they stick good with no help from me except to press them on really well. So there you have it...simple and inexpensive waterproof labels from your inkjet printer. You can use any labels in Avery's clear inkjet line - whatever suits your application. Remember to spray in a well- ventilated area so you don't choke yourself. Happy soaping! " Second, I think bath salts and bath bombs done in the coordinating colors of the wedding would be really nice. The bath salts for example could be layered lavender and white for a purple wedding (and scented similarly), peach and white etc. You do the same with the bath bombs by coloring half your ingred. one color and half the other and compact them together. Third, If you want it, a white musk type fo can be had at many suppliers, I think an " angel type " would be nice too, as well as perhaps something fruitier. Let's face it, most men aren't going to use this stuff anyway and the wedding fru fru is 90% for the bride. HTH! Jackie
Guest guest
Hi Francie: " White " is a term used to describe a perfume note consisting of white flowers like jasmine, lily of the valley, ylang, gardenia, neroli, tuberose, etc., perhaps with a touch of vanilla. Several manufacturers carry a White Musk f.o., (try Felicia's Fragrance Finder to start: http://hometown.aol.com/Feesf/Fragrances.html), but you can make a very nice blend by combining: 3 parts musk f.o. 1 part jasmine f.o. 1 part vanilla f.o. 1/2 to 1 part sandalwood e.o. or f.o. > Also i'm looking for an idea for wedding favours..my friends wedding is coming up soon and she wants me to make up 'something >special-something different' for guest favours and also unusual gifts for the bridesmaids and mothers..help!!..i had thought of a >White Musk type fragrance but what to do?? and what EO's do you use to make a White Musk Scent???I suppose i could do mini >bath bombs or mini soaps but she wants unusual!!! Guest guest
The ns started a tradition of flowers having a specific meaning. For example, red rose was the symbol of love, but yellow rose meant " jealousy " . Here is a website that explains it in detail: http://www.cybercom.net/~klb/flowers.html Combine flower scents appropriate for a wedding (example): 2 drops rose f.o. (symbolizing love) 1 drop lily of the valley f.o. (happiness) 1 drop ivy f.o. (marriage) 1 drop vanilla f.o. (from an orchid, symbolic of beauty) 1 drop jasmine f.o. (sensuality) 1 drop orange flower f.o. (chastity, marriage) 1 drop musk f.o. (this acts as a fixative for the scent, adding depth and richness) Once you have your stock " scent, it can be used to perfume several different kinds of favors: Scented soap hearts wrapped in tulle and tied with color-coordinated ribbons, add a spray of silk flowers Fabric sachets filled with a small amount of scented ground corncob (used as bedding for small pets), decorated with silk flowers and ribbon bows Scented stones (mix up plaster of Paris according to recipe, scent with f.o., add color and pour into molds in the shape of hearts), tied up in netting and ribbon Small candles scented with the mixture, decorated with ribbons and silk flowers Pot-pourri of dried flowers scented with mixture, packaged in small bowls or sachets Rose soap petals (dip silk rose petals in melted, scented clear soap, let dry) in a pretty box, tied with ribbon and silk flowers Be sure to include a small card explaining the meaning of each scent...a sure conversation starter! Good luck! :-) Cat >^-.-^< Try a combination of some of these scents to make a light floral blend that can be used along with a small card explaining their meanings is a delightful converstion starter! > > Also i'm looking for an idea for wedding favours..my friends wedding is > coming up soon and she wants me to make up 'something >special-something > different' for guest favours and also unusual gifts for the bridesmaids and > mothers..help!!..i had thought of a >White Musk type fragrance but what to > do?? and what EO's do you use to make a White Musk Scent???I suppose i could > do mini >bath bombs or mini soaps but she wants unusual!!! Guest guest
The rose petal soaps in a variety of colors make wonderful gifts. And www.from-nature-with-love.com <http://www.from-nature-with-love.com> has a beautiful fragrance oil called Wedding Boquet. It has a touch of magnolia blossom and some other " flowery " scents, and is really pretty. Label Help First of all the list is brilliant -so helpful! does anyone have any helpful hints on labels and attaching them to bottles etc. I currently just print my labels out from the computer with normal paper and stick them on with sellotape to the bottles etc but i am finding that the damp atmosphere of bathrooms etc is making them peel off.and tye on labels arent always practical..is there any suggestions for type of paper to use or how to waterproof them..laminating makes the labels too rigid and hard. Also i'm looking for an idea for wedding favours..my friends wedding is coming up soon and she wants me to make up 'something special-something different' for guest favours and also unusual gifts for the bridesmaids and mothers..help!!..i had thought of a White Musk type fragrance but what to do?? and what EO's do you use to make a White Musk Scent???I suppose i could do mini bath bombs or mini soaps but she wants unusual!!! any help at all would be great! Guest guest
Anything " fruity " is really popular for the summer. I have been mixing cucumber and lots of different fruit fo's...melon, cantaloupe, apricot (my favorite), pear. Don't get discouraged, sweetie! It takes awhile for people to know you are out there, and to realize you do have a good product. I have come to the realization that alot of women are very loyal to a product/fragrance, and it's hard to get them to switch. But don't let that deter you at all! Advertise, do shows, get your friends to give " demo parties " in their homes...there are lots of ways to get your product out to the public. Just don't give up; if you want it badly enough, you can find a way to make it happen!! (putting down my cheerleader's pom poms now!! hehe) Label Help Thanks mom2threesmiles! Guest guest
Hi:) I work part time for a supplier. Heres what we do there to waterproof labels. Grab some paraffin wax and after you print the labels, rub the was stick over the label. It doesn't have to be thick, just like you are coloring over it with a crayon. It doesn't smear the ink, and it works pretty darn good! HTH

Guest guest
Was hoping someone had some better ideas - I bought some gold foil labels at Office Depot the other day - #8987 - and while they work, they are just too small - I'd like to find some foil labels that 2 sizes - 3 1/4 x 2 7/8 and 2 5/8 x 1 - I've searched on line but can't find these size labels in gold or silver foil. Even if I could come really close to these sizes....anyone have any bookmarked places on line or know of any stores that might carry these sizes? thanks a bunch! They don't seem to have the exact sizes you mention but they have a few that might be close enough, and many of their labels seem to be available in different colours including gold and silver foil. Hope this helps! Sherry
