I drink neroli or rose hydrosol everyday in my spring water at Le Bijou.

I keep a glass picture of it ready for clients coming to the store.

I have it Anya......

I have meditation classes with the hydrosols....like a wine

tasting........fun.

Do you have a huge assortment to taste?

I have about 26 hydrosols......love the jasmine, tuberose, frankincense,

white lotus.......yummy.

For this tasting, I'm just thinking we taste them straight, perhaps

in a little water, and report back.

I like to use a teaspoon straight in a wine glass.....breath it

in.......sip.....breath.....room temp so it can open or flower.

and then I will also use a tsp in water to compare ........

Have fun......

I use a lot of my hydrosols internally -for taste, fun or

medicinally.

Mint is especially nice on really hot days, in ice water, tea or

other drinks. Sometimes a " shot " sometimes just a few drops, along

with a couple floating mint leaves.

I like Rosemary and Sage as well, but they have to be used with more

caution. The taste is protective from overdosing however, since it's

only nice in dillution. One teaspoon in 1 cup is quite strong.

For medicinal use, like upset stomach, Mint 1/2 and 1/2 (Hydrosol

and Water)in a shot glass, with sugar or honey works wonderful and

is pleasant to take, even for children.

Even Yarrow has good use - great for detox of the blood, especially

for colds and flu. It helps lowering fever, inducing sweating.

Yarrow also has a special affinity with bleeding issues.

Not something to necessarily drink for fun, and only in dillution,

but it belongs in a good cold formula.

The only thing about Hydrosols and EOs for internal use, I only dare

use my own. I would love to experimentwith/use others, but I don't

know who sells that kind of quality.

Any suggestions? I understand Eden Botanicals is a great source for

example -pure enough for internal use though?

Subject: Speaking of drinking hydrosols.....

It's always been nice to put a teaspoon of neroli or rose hydrosol

into some water with ice, or into some tea, hot or cold.

I realize I've never tasted a lot of my hydrosols. Mandy Aftel's new

line of hydrosols were created with taste in mind. I haven't tried

any of those yet. I hear she's training sommelliers and chefs in the

use of hydrosols, perhaps with the sommelliers it's as an adjunct to

wine tasting?

I say we all try to taste our hydrsols. I don't have any sandalwood

--where do you get that? I mostly have an assortment of rose,

lavender, lemon balm, helichrysum and a yarrow. NO WAY I'm tasting

the yarrow! I'll have to check my refrigerator to see if there are

any others lurking in there. Might have some Roman cham. Gotta check.

Don't use them in perfumery, I will someday when I make more dilute

colognes. Dorothy, you use them a lot, right? Do you have a huge

assortment to taste?

Anya, I have Neroli from Butch and the Rose that I brought back with me from

Turkey. I must confess I have tasted neither one although Butch states that

the Neroli Hydrosol is pure enought to drink as he had it tested. I love

using the floral waters instead of distilled water with my alcohol perfume

creations.

Haven't experimented with cooking with them as I don't do much cooking.

Perhaps others will pipe up with their cooking adventures using these

waters.

Yes! And yarrow tea is really good for respiratory

congestion and also digestion (if you can get the

bitter stuff down!). Another great use of yarrow is

as a poultice for pain and inflammation. A yarrow

poultice has been know to make bruises disappear. I

have used the tea and the poultice but know I am

wondering about the hydrosol for medicinal use.

Maybe this is all irrelevant to perfumery but I just

had to chime in on the value of drinking bitter

yarrow!

Wow, what an impressive collection, JoAnne. Are the jasmine and

tuberose and white lotus from the process where they distill concretes?

I know you've used the hydrosols in your perfume creations, Dorothy,

and I will follow your example when I create colognes.

I bet they're good in flans or puddings, or fruit salad!

Thanks a lot Anya. I've already been checking out their EOs, but now I'm

interested in their Hydrosols as well <G>

Thanks, ne
