How are her menses? It might be a good idea to check out her hormone status. She may need topical Estriol palliatively or at least good endocrine treatment. It is not as uncommon as you think for young women to have endocrine imbalances that decreases the E effect on the vaginal tissues - something that could be contributing to the infections as well. Amy Chadwick, ND studentPortland, OROn Feb 14, 2006, at 9:40 AM, <drmarierodriguez@...> wrote: > > Hello I have a 27 year old female patient that I am treating for yeast vaginitis, recurrent UTI's and chronic dryness.  Her UTI's have resolved nicely by doing some global drainage with the anti-inflamm diet and BTGs. As part of her treatment for the yeast infections I am having her alternate ystat suppositories in the morning with HMF cap as a suppository at night.  She is so dry that she is unable to insert the HMF capsule.  I am concerned about the dryness as I think she is young to be experiencing this. I have suggested using vitamin E oil liberally and vitamin E suppositories, to help with moisture.  I have also suggested increased hydration and fish oil.  Does anyone have any other treatment suggestions or ideas about a lubricant that is healing to the tissues (other than ones used for intercourse?) Thanks Amy

Yes I definitely have this on my radar as a higher force intervention to try

down the road. I was thinking of the Osta B3 by Bezwecken. I guess I am mainly

used to seeing rampant prog. deficiency in my private practice so it is good to

know that low E in younger women is not so unusual.

As for a nourishing lubricant, you may try something from the Sensua

Orgaincs lubricant line. Nice ingrdients and some are homeopathically

formulated for specific needs:

I am working with a woman who has reccurent yeast infections as well. They are pretty much under controll at this point, but she does have vaginal dryness/irritaiton at times. We just started on Calendula supp with Vit A and Vit E from Wise Women. Long range treatment you might want to look at Sycotic Miasm, reccurent UTI, yeast etc. ND Seattledrmarierodriguez@... wrote: > > HelloI have a 27 year old female patient that I am treating for yeast vaginitis, recurrent UTI's and chronic dryness. Dear Marie,

sounds like a major hormonal imbalance; have you done a salivary profile for a baseline? I don't hesitate to use Bezwecken's E3 suppositories symptomatically in cases like this while I work deeper on hormone balancing with drainage; I have women use one suppository every other day for 1-2 weeks and generally they are able to reduce it to one suppository 1-2times a week.

I am also wondering if she had any sexual abuse in the past? - common with such a focus of problems in the pelvic area.

Thanks le-

Haven't done a hormone panel as this pt. is on a tight budget right now. The E3

suppositories sound like a good call. She reports feeling alot better with

vitamin E suppositories and oil.

I don't suspect sexual abuse, though it is a possibility. She reports recently

getting out of an " unhealthy " relationship - no other details given. She also

is a fairly recent immigrant from Pakistan so her cultural background and

adjustment process is another consideration.

Thanks again

Number one correspondence I have seen with

chronic yeast infections is a “bad” relationship. Not sure if this

is the case in this situation but if you haven’t explored it you might

want to see if it is a possible contributing factor.
