I'm going to start them next week when my ankle is all healed. I have a white and gold champaka in big pots, may have to prune them into smaller pots. I'll build a greenhouse there, from zone 10 to 8, they do get freezes! Or do you know where I might find this information? I am considering adding a lavender sometime in the near future. Thank you, www.elderberryherbfarm.com Hi , This is not easy, since I, myself, have not had an opportunity to examine these. When I help broker ingredients to the larger companies, I only facilitate samples and product delivered directly to them and my renumeration is that of percentage of the sale for sourcing/facilitating. I never see or examine the product. The only time I get to use/sell/experience any of these finer extracts is when I can get in on a buy-back in quantities that I can afford and then the product becomes 'mine' to use/share. The current lavender concrete I have is L. officinalis from France, which is most likely quite different from any of the new lavender concretes I am going to get. I would hate to describe this to you and have it not be accurate. Because these larger companies have strict standards for their applications (sometimes medicinal, sometimes cosmetic, sometimes perfumes), I am never disappointed with the quality of the buy-backs they offer us; in fact, the ingredients are usually far superior to many that most companies the size of mine can procure in the open market. The lovely saffron CO2, and concrete we currently offer is a great example. I understand your dilemma and once we have these ingredients on site we will establish a sample package that can be purchased for a reasonable price so that people can sample before purchasing larger quantities. Remember that the prices offered this month are the " pre-buy " lowest prices. We offer these prices here to give listmembers first opportunity before they are added to our general pricelist. I always try to get Anya samples of any new item, as well, so that she can critique them. She is very good about putting her descriptions on the list here. Maybe the best way to address your question at this time is to have a general discussion regarding the nuances and differences for lavenders and all their species/varieties and extract possibilities - essential oil, CO2, absolute and concretes. Remember, however, that we are talking about one-of-a-kind extractions - every one is going to be slightly different from the same plant/elevation/extraction method during a different time period. There are so many variables that can change odor quality from production to production. Generalities can be helpful, especially for those new here who are looking for a place to begin.
