Hiya,

Ask any questions you might have about BFL in this group, and I'm sure

someone will be able to give you advice. If you are in the SW Orlando

area, I'd be happy to meet with you sometime and even discuss this

stuff in person if you like. I'm in Orlando, too, and I work out at

the Gold's in Dr. . :)

You say that you have the BFL book, but you can't stay motivated.

Have you read the book and actually tried to do the workouts and

follow the nutrition guidelines? The program is NOT that difficult

once you get started. It's the getting started that is daunting to a

lot of folks. You just have to sit down, think about where you are

today in terms of weight and fitness, and visualize where you WANT to

be in the future, and make the commitment to at least give the program

your best efforts for 8 weeks.

The bad news is that is right--there are no quick and easy

fixes. Since we are around the same height (I'm 5'6 " ), I assume you

want to get down to the 115-130 lb weight range. Even assuming an

aggressive weight loss target of 2 lbs/week, it will take you around

60 weeks to get down to the upper end of this range in a healthy,

sustainable way through exercise and good nutrition. You will have to

essentially change your eating habits permanently if you want to keep

the weight off as well. You can't just BFL for 12 weeks, then dive

right back into a vat of Ben and Jerry's and not expect to gain the

weight back.

You CAN get back into shape. You just need to ask yourself how much

you want it, then follow through. I've lost my motivation to do BFL

after 2-3 weeks twice in the past, but I've changed my routine around

this time to make it work. I was tired of being squishy civilian GIRL

and wanted my kickass Army body back.

My tips:

1. I've found it helpful to write down everything--goals, meal plans,

workout schedules, etc. I post a daily check-in with this information

on a smaller MSN BFL board, and track it in my PDA, too.

2. Don't keep junk food in your house/workplace. Get rid of all of

it, because if it is there, you WILL eat it. I cook healthy meals and

snacks in large batches and freeze them so I can just grab and go most

days.

3. For workouts, I do them first thing in the morning so I can't cop

out of them later in the day with excuses like " I'm so tired from

work " or " I just ate dinner, so I can't work out. "

4. Set short-term, achievable goals for your 12 week challenges, just

like it says in the book. The big picture is nice, but it's meeting

those smaller goals that will keep you motivated--so shoot for 12-24

lbs and a drop of one or two clothing sizes in 12 weeks, not 60 lbs

and a size 6!

5. No matter how horrible you might find the workouts, do them anyway.

You will be sore for the first 2 weeks, but you will adapt quickly.

6. DO try to get in all 6 of the meals, and watch your portion sizes.

7. Set a start date and JUST DO IT.
