The patient is a 17 year old girl with a history of anxiety ("she has always been sensitive"). She began Celexa 1 year ago as it became intense (fearing crowds, profuse sweating). It became worse this year and she was put on Klonopin. She immediately came down with the worst headache she'e ever had for the next 10 days. The neurologist discontinued the drug abruptly (contraindicated). Now she has a "buzzing"in her head...a "static"...no sound but a serious haze. It is so severe that she has not been to school x 1 month as she cannot concentrate. She is also having intense leg pain (non-localized but all tissue layers, so bone, muscle, and joint) with greatly increased superficial sensitivity. Also jaw pain. All MRIs of head and sacral region are negative. Other pertinent hx: --father is bipolar and has anxiety. --She had her gallbladder removed this spring because it had "septations"= folds preventing bile flow and leading to stomach pain. At the same time they did a "sympathectomy", which was to prevent her from having sweaty palms. No complications to the surgery. --She had a virus this past fall that had her down for 2 weeks with very swollen lymph glands and body aches (she has not been tested for Lyme, no legions noted) --Lifelong constipation --This week she was also put on Seroquel, which is also processed through the CYP450 system. She had started seeing me initially for acupuncture, not knowing anything about naturopathy, and there hasn't been alot of enthusiasm for getting on board with ND stuff... So we have done alot of acupuncture...also, Flax seeds, cod liver oil (which she said further constipated her, I would have thought diarrhea), COP. So far no dent on the leg pain and only marginal improvement of the buzzing. Now she can at least read. My assessment is that she has a fragile CNS and the Klonopin was too toxic. Additionally because of her poor GI health and elimination she is having trouble metabolizing it and getting it out She (her mother) is now finally willing to get on the ND train--its the UNDA piece that I'd like your help with...I am vacillating between liver and nervous system. It could look like #9-30-258, or #22 for the intense anxiety. Or #1 to really aid the liver. Any suggestions? (Additionally, a green powder, AI diet, B-vitamins,VeryBerry, Vit E, and Mg) Any help, specifically about the UNDAs would be welcome! Saccomanno ND (the license arrived yesterday!) Guest guest
Hi , Wow, what a pt! DT's protocol looks great, let us know what you ultimatel use and how it goes. And be sure to use magneleuvers as the anxiety and h/as sound like the all to common mag deficiency (especially in a teenage). Simple, but the BTGs, fully, and the energetics of DTs ideas should be tremendous if not curiative and their is not something else going on.
